We hiked the trail from Hahei Beach to Cathedral Cove in the morning, and in a last minute decision over lunch, we decided we'd like to see the coastline we had just walked form the water. We found the brochure for the ride in a local shop, and the shop owner called and made our reservation for us. (I thought it was significant that the local businesses worked so well together!) We parked at the public parking at Hahei and walked down to the end of the beach to meet up with the boat. The group has a canopy and a vertical flag to mark the destination. We were given waterproof bags to put our belongings in for the trip, but I recommend keeping the carry-ons to a minimum so that you don't have to bother with items while you ride - it can get fast and bouncy with the occasional sea spray!! We left our shoes under the canopy and took off for sea caves, geological sites and sea life (endangered birds, sea lions and huge schools of snapper around the boat). The captain gave us just enough commentary to make the trip interesting without being dry or overbearing. We went in the afternoon, and while we were in the sun it was warm, but in the shadows it was quite cool, so a jacket isn't a bad idea in the fall months. I loved this trip because it delivered everything it promised and really allowed us to see the shoreline from the opposite side of the trail we had hiked in the morning.
