“Really Rewarding Ride!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 May 2014

We hiked the trail from Hahei Beach to Cathedral Cove in the morning, and in a last minute decision over lunch, we decided we'd like to see the coastline we had just walked form the water. We found the brochure for the ride in a local shop, and the shop owner called and made our reservation for us. (I thought it was significant that the local businesses worked so well together!) We parked at the public parking at Hahei and walked down to the end of the beach to meet up with the boat. The group has a canopy and a vertical flag to mark the destination. We were given waterproof bags to put our belongings in for the trip, but I recommend keeping the carry-ons to a minimum so that you don't have to bother with items while you ride - it can get fast and bouncy with the occasional sea spray!! We left our shoes under the canopy and took off for sea caves, geological sites and sea life (endangered birds, sea lions and huge schools of snapper around the boat). The captain gave us just enough commentary to make the trip interesting without being dry or overbearing. We went in the afternoon, and while we were in the sun it was warm, but in the shadows it was quite cool, so a jacket isn't a bad idea in the fall months. I loved this trip because it delivered everything it promised and really allowed us to see the shoreline from the opposite side of the trail we had hiked in the morning.

“Hahei Explorer - awesome way to see Hahei and stunning surrounds”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2014

What an exciting way to see some of the Coromandel's most beautiful beaches/coast. A fun, thrilling ride on a great boat with an expert skipper. Although we didn't get to see any dolphins, we saw a couple of schools of snapper and a penguin, right up close. Going into the sea caves was amazing!
An experience to remember! Wear pants you can roll up as you have to get your feet wet.
Thanks for a great trip guys!

“Fun way to see the area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 March 2014 via mobile

Tim (our guide and boatman) gave us a fun and informative tour of many special spots along the coast. Claire was helpful with the booking and getting in and out of the boat. A great way to get a sense of the area.

“Wonderful day on the ocean”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2014

We took an early morning departure which was perfect, as apparently it is not as windy as later departures. Excellent commentary throughout the tour, comfortable boat ride and stunning scenery. Thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Good value for money (NZD75 pp)

“Fantastic way to see Cathedral Cove & just the right length”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2014

Fantastic way to see Cathedral Cove and the sea caves and other sights in the area. The views were great, and the amount of time spent on the tour was just right. I would recommend it as the perfect way to see Cathedral Cove.

A couple of words of advice - you will need to walk in the water to get into the boat, just up to knee level, but easy to remove shoes and probably shorts would be ideal. Also, if it's on the chiller side, take a jacket.
