“We loved this place, despite the gale force winds!”
Reviewed 4 September 2013

We only stayed for one night in the yurt and had to leave very early in the morning to catch a flight but what a lovely experience. The area surrounding the yurt is beautiful. A real 'get away from it all' place. We arrived in blistering hot sunshine and enjoyed an afternoon sitting out on the deck. The yurt is well equipped and has just about everything you could need. The wind picked up in the afternoon and by the time we went to bed it must have been gale force! What an experience, being in a glorified tent in a gale! Both the yurt and its inhabitants survived intact!
If we ever come back to NZ we will definitely stay for longer. There is so much to do in the area and we wish we had been able to enjoy the kayaks the owner had for guests to use.

Such a great place! We enjoyed every minute of our stay here, were sad we had only booked one night! We stayed in the Sunflower Chalet, the owners were warm and welcoming and had set out fresh fruit and freshly baked bread for us. We enjoyed kayaking and the nice beach just a few steps from the chalet.

Yet another awesome few days at Purangi in February. This time we stayed in the Sunflower Chalet, which looks out over the estuary ... waking up and being able to look out over the water from bed is such a joy. Kayaking up the estuary, wandering around the rocks to pick mussels, a glass of wine in the evening looking out over the water, and endless swimming. We can also thoroughly recommend the ice cream parlour in Hahei. The day after I left, I already wanted to go back. The perfect place for taking it easy ... if you need a good break from the stresses of life, go immediately. Give yourself at least three nights, but more if you can.

Room Tip: All options are great - chalets perfect for a three person family, choose from the water views of th...

Spent 3 relaxing days here with my 2 daughters in January staying in the Lavender Chalet. The chalet is one of two and equipped with everything you need and a stones throw away from a private beach that overlooks the Purangi Inlet. We made good use of the free kayaks to explore the inlet. Sue and Rod, the owners, are lovely - providing coffee and fresh bread on our arrival. Go stay...you won't be disappointed.

An absolute paradise for any traveller! Be greeted warmly by your host, welcomed into accommodation complete with homemade chutney and bread, and relax!
My partner and I visited and were blow away by the view, the hospitality and the quality of our accommodation- in fact we've both said that if we had our trip to do over we would have spent twice as long here!
Absolutely beautiful.

There are a few accommodation options at Purangi Gardens and all have their own charms.... We stayed in Orchard House. Like many others we have fallen in love with this place and have returned several times. Sue & Rod are wonderful hosts and the garden and orchard setting are idyllic. The house is so comfortable and user friendly. It is a short drive to Hahei beach or to the private beach by the chalets.

We have just returned from a 2 week trip to New Zealand, the last 5 days were spent at the Yurt. What a wonderful way to end our holiday. It was great coming back to the yurt after a day of touring the Coromandel region. The kids had space to play, they picked and are plums from the orchard and it was lovely to be able to cook dinner on the open deck, looking out at the spectacular scenery. You feel like you are camping in the middle of nowhere, but you have all the comforts of home. The yurt is huge and the beds are very comfortable. Thank you Rod and Susan for making us feel very welcome,
