I just randomly came to ASURE for booking an accommodation. Because my parents in law just came from Whangarei to come my wife and I. I should arrange accommodation for them. Mr Yang is very kind person to help us to set a suitable room for us. Also he's professional attitude was very impressive. I was so sorry to come on evening time without any booking. But Mr Yang's service just let us feel so unforgetable and appreciated!

Thanks again for the serivce!

Hello Grant
Thank you for your comments. We have come a long way since we took over Camelot Arms. We still feel we have some way to go but we feel we’re on the right track to achieve our aims and goals. Last year we achieved Qualmark four star rating and later this year we hope we can improve upon that. You and your parents are very welcome to stay with us again.

Grant

We stayed several places in the Auckland area and this was the only one we returned to. We will definitely stay here next time as well! Besides being convenient to the Auckland airport and central Auckland, we felt at home and enjoyed visiting with proprietors David and Michael, so opted to return here on our last night in New Zealand.
David and Michael made us feel like we were coming home, as we had stayed with them for several days during Cyclone Lusi over a week earlier and prior to our trip to the South Island. This was a great place to be "weathered in" as it is close to restaurants and ethnic markets and has laundry facilities and lots of TV channels. Our rooms were quiet and comfortable both times we were there. We had a minor problem with the room we were in initially and David moved us immediately and gave us a free upgrade.
These new owners have upgraded the internet and the TV, which offers every possible channel, along with much more, since purchasing the motel in 2012. They are very attentive, offering to help arrange airport transportation (usual shuttle costs apply), to provide breakfast at cost from local restaurants (really nice for families and anyone without a car) and providing coupons for free admission to a nearby gym, as well as information on local attractions.
If you like Indian or other Asian cuisine, get some restaurant suggestions for one of the many in the area. If on foot, local ethnic food is all around; Asian bakery next door, "Food Junction" with several dozen choices a 10 minute walk away, and Burger King if anyone is homesick for American food! There are also lots of inexpensive ethnic markets within a few minutes walk for anyone wanting to use the cooking facilities available in the rooms.
The rooms are clean, quiet, comfortable and all have partial kitchens...microwave, fridge and plates and silverware, along with coffee and tea. Some rooms have full kitchens with stovetops and additional equipment; others have jacuzzi tubs. The laundry facilities are great for travelers, as is the convenience to the airport.
Since there are apartments, 1 or 2 bedroom, as well as studios available, this is a good place for families or for groups traveling together. There is a large conference room available as well.
Thanks David and Michael! We will be back!

We needed a last minute place to stay for the night having flown into Auckland airport. We got a good deal on the Camelot so decided to give it a go. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the room was clean and had everything we needed. The only minor sticking point was that the room had no air conditioning. There was a fan but it was very noisy so we had the overnight option of heat or noise - fix that and this would be top notch!

Hi Craig

Thanks for your feedback and comments. Point taken about the air con. It should be pointed out however that most of the motels in our area and perhaps all of Auckland do not have air con. Our climate is too mild to make it economically worth while most of the time.

I suspect another problem is we need to have thinner blankets on the beds which I will look at getting for next summer. I will also check the fans in every room. If any are noisy we will replace them.

In the long term we will also give consideration to air con.

Thanks very much for your comments. It’s hard to make sense of a lot of what you write. If my answers are off track because of that please accept my apologies. Perhaps it would be better if you wrote in complete sentences about specific instances rather than vague emotional fragments that could mean anything.

All the ground floor rooms have two keys. The big one opens the main door the little one opens a lock at the top of the ranch slider doors. My business partner and I explain the two keys to every downstairs guest. Most people understand and have no problems. If you had any problems we would have been only too glad to help - if asked. None of our ranch sliders are sticking

I don’t think there are too many smokers here. Of course it varies day by day. We do provide out door tables and chairs for guests to sit outside their rooms if they want to. There are six of them on the main side of the units. I've not often seen more than one occupied by smokers - most of the time. Some people like to sit outside and drink some wine others tea or coffee, read the newspaper or work on their computer. Some just like to sit and watch the world go by.

Of course since it is against the law to smoke inside the rooms we do provide ash trays nearby each area.

I don’t know what you mean by your reference to phone etiquette. Once again you are being extremely vague – perhaps deliberately so. Do you mean that because my business partner is a non native speaker of English you had trouble understanding him? I could be wrong but I seem to remember under the Human Rights Act that it’s illegal to discriminate on the grounds of language. If that’s not the case I’m sorry but you need to be much clearer. Can you provide us with a clear specific instance which we can investigate please?

You’re very welcome.

We were looking for a clean, quite, comfortable and affordable motor lodge for our last night in New Zealand before flying out of Auckland International Airport. Hunted around for hours, everything was either full or unacceptable. By chance, we discovered The Camelot Arms and will never stay anywhere else when we're in the neighbourhood.

Room Tip: Don't bother to hunt around for a place to stay near the Airport. This is the perfect place. The...

After a bad experience elsewhere, we found this motel to be comfortable, with clean, spacious rooms and good facilities. It is a short distance to the airport, but also well placed for visiting central Auckland and the surrounding attractions. It is also extremely good value.

Room Tip: Cooking facilities vary from room to room, so let reception know exactly what you require.

We were pleasantly surprised at how close this motor lodge was to the airport and central Auckland. The rooms were a little hot (no air conditioning!), but cooled down quickly when the sun went down. We found the noise of the planes a little difficult to sleep through, and my kids struggled to go to sleep as the curtains did not block out the summer sun, but other than that the place was great – we especially enjoyed eating our dinner in the little private garden outside our lounge room.

Thank you for your response. I'll put the curtains on the list to do. In the meantime they do provide privacy which is their main intention.

As for aircraft noise we are not usually bothered by it because the predominant wind in New Zealand is westerly. Planes do track along a road about 1 km away from here into the westerly wind to land at the airport, their engines are not on full power and we can't hear very much if anything from them.

It's only when the wind is blowing from the east which (is far less common) and planes take off in our direction with their engines on full power that we do get some noise. Personally I've lived on the flight path to Heathrow and also Hong Kong and it's nowhere as bad as that. Also it's something that you get used to very quickly.

I'm glad you enjoyed eating outside. We've only put the tables and chairs outside in the last few months. It's nice to know they are appreciated.
