We were definitely on the water. We were close to get on the different ferries and to go to many different places. The units do not have air conditioning; and this was certainly unusual in our travels in New Zealand. The internet is very slow and costly. It was certainly nice to have access to a washer and dryr.

We took our 3 young children over Australia day weekend to see my Dad who is over working in NZ for 6 months .

We stayed in 2 rooms in our 5 day visit room 18 was by far the better room and room 10. The one thing I would say if you have small kids like we do is the safety aspect is not ideal as the stair cases up to the loft sleeping areas are dangerous for adults let alone children. The staff are very friendly.

Location wise it is perfect 150 meters up on the corner is an amazing resturant although pricey they do make amazing meals, then there is the cafe with really good staff well run with tasty meals and a relaxed atmosphere.

I would stay there agin although I would be trying to get room 18.

Room Tip: room 18 is the largest room with the best views of the bay, all beach front rooms are nice though.

The family and I made a last minute decision to spend Christmas and New Year at the beach, We found 2 rooms available at the Bucklands Beach Waterfront Motel. The first thought is always "why is this available, what is wrong with it" but we were very pleasantly surprised. We stayed over for a few days over Christmas and straight away booked it for New Year too. The staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful. The location was amazing, and to wake up with the view of the ocean was truly beautiful. We were so impressed and will definitely be booking in there again. Thank you to Andy and the other staff for the great stay.

Room Tip: Unit 12 / Unit 4

We had booked the studio as we had booked 'studios' several times before. This was half of a garage which had been converted. It was very basic but clean. We were at the back so it was very quiet. We had covered space beside the studio to park the car so we were able to clean the car before returning it. Location wise, it was convenient to return the car the next morning to Auckland centre and a very easy drive, barely 20 mins. The takeaway round the corner serves good food and the portions are large. I would not recommend this studio but it served its purpose for us, given it was the end of a 6 week trip. Fortunately our last night in NZ was spent in a lovely hotel in Auckland. However, we were thrilled with the quality and value of accommodation generally in NZ.

Room Tip: Not the studio.

Having decided to stay outside of Central Auckland for a change on our weekend trip to a show we stayed at this motel that claims to be the "only true waterfront motel location in Auckland" and it certainly is that. It was great to be away from the hustle and bustle of downtown for a change. The motel is certainly a little bit dated but it makes up for it in terms of what is on offer. The views from our upstairs waterfront room were fantastic. The waterway is busy so lots of activity to see. We had a family of five there and it was roomy enough with the mezzanine floor. The in-house information book was also comprehensive. Would definitely come again.

Room Tip: Try and get an upstairs waterfront room.

We stayed in an upstairs unit. It was well furnished and very comfortable. The kitchen was especially well equipped. The view is fabulous. We found the manager/owner very helpful - even being happy to be woken up late at night when we came home to find a young teenage girl whose parents were out and had got locked out of her unit! The one hour free wifi everyday is great! The only problem is noise insulation. Even though we stayed upstairs, we could hear the people downstairs very loudly! But a good experience and we would definatelly stay there again.

Room Tip: Definately stay upstairs with a view!

I've stayed here a few time before, and each time it seems to get worse and worse. As far as I'm away, the motel has changed ownership several times.
Internet/data is frightfully expensive and is limited to one device, one user only. In today's day and age where a person has more than one device that uses internet, this tends to be rather inconvenient and in my opinion unacceptable.
Walls are rather 'paper thin' and noises from above and next door are really evident late at night and early hours of the morning. Don't stay on the ground floor!
I'd say the best aspect of the place is the view onto the water, sadly that's about it. Unfortunately, this place is the only half decent motel in the area.
