Good choice to be away from the CBD but still within a ferry ride to restaurants. Take care with ferry schedule as not many late sailings for return to Half Moon Bay. Howick Village is close with some good eating places. Motel is just average, nothing special except for the views.

Room Tip: Beautiful location and views on Half Moon Bay. Kitchen adequately stocked. Drawback was uncomfortable mattress of the lounge queen bed. Also the side windows would not close completely, would seem the sea air has ruined the seal.

Can't be beaten as a seafront motel. Has the view and the service at the right price. Your rooms are neat and tidy with every convenience available. Good for business and pleasure. Excellent restaurants within a (5) five minuet walk. This is a well managed motel.

I worried when I made the booking that the motel might not be a great pic. When we got there it turned out to be super clean and directly across the street from the bay. If you're using your gps to get there use Bucklands Beach as the town or the gps may not find it. The room was very clean with a sparkling bath. There were some stains on the privacy curtains, but we only used them at night for sleeping and weren't a problem. The unit had a complete kitchen with an oven and full size refrig, so we were able to cook up some complete dinners. An hour of free wifi wasn't enough, but you could buy more at $2 an hour, very reasonable and if you signed off each time and didn't leave the connection open, you could use up every minute of wifi time. Very helpful owner, but his estimates of how long to walk to certain places was about twice as fast as most people walk. Little pool, but great big ocean out front. Great place for families who seek value. Patio deck table was not very clean.

Room Tip: Units face west, so with ocean front views, afternoons are hot in the summer. Best to open the windows and doors to get the place to cool down. After the sun goes down, it cools right down. Chalets appear to be in the back area.

We booked a two-bedroom unit and stayed for three nights. Before arrived, I'm kinda worried that the motel might be very outdated due to some pics I saw on tripadvisor. But actually, the motel is well maintained. The unit is clean and comfortable.
Washing room is pretty small but very tidy, shower is good, and they provide enough towels.
There's a individual room with two single beds. And a queen-size bed is in the living area. Beds are very soft.
The unit does not have air conditioning; there's a fan in the living area, and we open the window during the night, so it's not hot inside.
It's a surprise that the unit has electric rice cooker, not common in NZ, maybe because the owner are Japanese.
The owners are a Japanese couple, they are very friendly and polite and the husband provided us a lot of help.
The motel is locates near the seaside, so the view for the units at the front row is very good. And it's just a 5-minute walk to two restaurants and a convenience store.

Room Tip: units one the front row have a lovely sharing courtyard and nice view of sea.

We booked a one bedroom unit, but needed room for an extra person so were upgraded for a small amount & without any fuss to a 3 bedroom chalet. Really helpful manager, lovely upstairs/downstairs warm wooden chalet. Easy to take the ferry to city central. Great position by the beach/bay. Lovely
