Description: A comfortable two-hour drive from Auckland City, The Old Mill Cafe resides opposite Tairua Marina overlooking picturesque Tairua Harbour. Nestled quietly at the base of Paku Hill. Great spot to come for fabulous breakfasts made with free-range eggs and free farmed bacon. A wide variety of options for lunch ranging from Fresh Coromandel Mussels to freshly caught fish and chips and epic beef pies for the meat lovers out there. We use fresh produce and focus on fresh seafood but we cater to all diets including Gluten free, Vegetarian and Vegan. We have a wide range of yummy cakes, quiches and pies to accompany your coffee by Allpress. And cocktails & platters are available from 3pm to 6pm just in time for sunset over Tairua Harbour. And to finish off try a Kapiti ice cream served in a cone. Our menu is seasonal. We are fully licensed and carry a discerning range of local, NZ and overseas wines, beers and ciders. Make sure you check out our international deli and fresh french artisan breads. Every Sunday we have live music!

Being a local we can dine at the Old Mill when we like. Always yummy and attractive food and we know it is locally sourced and organic when ever possible. We send our guests to eat there as we know they will enjoy the good food and not be disappointed. It is a good recommendation when the guests want to return again the next night.

A waterfront location with lots of little nooks and crannies, so easy to find an intimate spot. Diverse range of very well priced dishes, and handmade chocolates and great coffee to finish.

While staying at Anton & Mary's in Tairua we dined twice at the Old Mill. We first went there on the advise of Mary and were very glad we followed her advise. We each had a plate of Green Lipped Mussels which were delicious. So much so that we decided to come back for a second dinner the following night and order the same main course. The restaurant is very intimate in a beautiful location, and the service was excellent. We can recommend the Old Mill to all visitors to Tairua

The menu had a variety of different, innovative dishes that were prepared well. We returned a second night because the food was excellent.

Musel and chowder entree were nice fish of day day with risotto had great flavour but my partners steak was wierd. No idea how it was cooked we think it was broiled. At $135.00 for two for dinner we would have expected much more.
