“Restful retreat”

I stayed here in July 2014 with my sister after a family celebration nearby. We found it very hard to get anything with twin beds so we picked this place for that reason and because it was on on a main road. Loved it, and will be back when we can next time we are in NZ. We found it very quiet and restful, lovely comfortable beds and very clean all round. the shower was great and we slept well. We also had a lovely walk before our huge breakfast, another reason to come back. Great cooks as well as very friendly helpful hosts too.

Room Tip: As its a small B&B there are only 2 rooms which is perfect for those wanting peace and quiet. no...

We booked weekend accommodation in the King room with ensuite rather last minute. Despite this Perry and Jan had no problems accommodating our special requests as we were celebrating an anniversary. We found them to be wonderful and caring hosts with helpful information and a good sense of humour. They even provided us with a ride to the wedding we were attending nearby when a taxi wasn't readily available. The room was private, tidy and comfortable with lovely views to the lush gardens. The breakfast options each morning were also appreciated. We truly enjoyed our stay and could have wished for nothing more. Thank you!

It was raining the night we stayed we meant we could not sit outside. There were 2 rooms at the side of their house with 2 chairs outside each separated from the other unit by a trellis. Our room was very small with one 2-seater couch crammed in, so mostly sat on one of the twin beds. No fridge but the owner brought a 'chillybin' in for the milk which was useful as we had brought food with us for the next day and had been expecting a fridge. Very quiet - 5 minutes or so out of town. Best thing was our walk up the road the next morning (recommended by the hosts) to Parry Park which was lovely. Breakfast was fine - which we had with the other couple staying there. We ate at the hotel in the town (very good) which on a Sunday was the only place open except the fish shop. We thought the price was a bit high (A$122) seeing we had a two bedroom apartment in Auckland central for only a little more, but prices in country NZ seemed to be very high compared to Sydney overall.

Very enjoyable accommodation with private entrance and sitting areas. The bed was pleasantly firm and the room had a good sized ensuite attached. Spotlessly clean with a fridge and coffee/ tea facilities. Jan and Perry provide a lovely cooked breakfast and good advice about where to eat locally and what to look at in the surrounding areas. All in all a very pleasant stay.

Jan and Perry Bathgate are great hosts who made us feel very welcome and do a great cooked breakfast. Do ask for grapefruit if they are on the tree in the garden.
The double room we had was lovely and we had two areas to sit outside and view the wonderful garden. There is a small fridge in the room,
Lovely peaceful location and wish we could have stayed longer.

Parry kauri walk nearby great tree and a wonderful board walk into the forest

We enjoyed our stay at Warkworth Country House, although we only had one night there. We were there in spring and the perfumes in the garden were divine. The room was very private, clean and comfortable and the cooked breakfast was really splendid. Jan and Perry were friendly and helpful but didn't intrude. It was slightly out of town but only took five minutes to get to the CBD for dinner and we had a good recommendation from our hosts.

Room Tip: The queen bed room is larger. The twin bed room is a touch on the small side if you have a lot of lu...

We (husband and brother in law) stayed here over Easter while attending a large celebration....150 years since ancestors arrived from UK to NZ...in Wellsford. Because of large numbers attending, we had difficulty getting accommodation closer to this celebration, BUT as it turned out this was the best ever place to stay! Great hosts in Jan and Perry, private, beautifully clean, comfortable rooms and a delicious breakfast....the fresh fruit salad absolutely tops.
Would highly recommend this as a great place to stay.
