A great spot for families and hardened surfers alike. Plenty of space for all, choose you preferred spot dependent on your surfing ability. Those waves get pretty big! Watch out for wasps nesting on the grass though. Better toilet facilities as per Goat Island wouldn't go amiss as there is only a very stinky long drop that I could find. Otherwise, once you make it down the gravel/dusty road, it's a beautiful spot. Make sure you take plenty of drinking water and food though. No beachside cafe here, though I did see a water tap, which was possibly drinking water. Great for families with safety conscious parents.

On Saturday we shared this vast beach with 5 other people. Incredibly beautiful. One of Auckland's best regional parks and, incredibly, not popular - maybe because of the poor road leading to it. Well worth making the effort though.

Wonderful place to spend the day. Lovely white sand beach and lots of explore and see.

Just remember to take everything you need - water, food etc as there are no shops or cafes close by

One of our favourite Regional Parks so far as it combined a surf beach together with wonderful walks. We did the Ecology trail walk which was just lovely.
