We had booked to go at Easter but it was cancelled because of storm damage but went about a week later. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The platters had an amazing array of food and were plentiful. The platters for the children were equally plentiful and they enjoyed having there own.

This is a small family run winery which is open for lunches. Be sure to book as it is usually booked out. they also do small weddings and in summer you can picnic among the vines. Great for kids and the staff are so friendly.

this winery had some nice wine, which was a little pricey for me. but a good range to try. Service was a little starchy, a smile goes a long way.

We visited the Ransom Wines on Saturday as a part of a lazily day of outing. It was a truly pleasant experience. When we tried to initially book a lunch there (booking is recommended as it is not really a big place, so it can be full), all the places were taken already. So we asked Marion (the owner) if she could place us into the waiting list as we did not want to postpone the visit - it was an autumn already and no one knew what the weather would be in a week or more time. We were very pleased to get a message later informing about an additional table arranged for us.
We were seated outside on the deck and it has a great place – we enjoy a pleasant sunshine and a very picturesque scenery reminding Tuscany with colourful trees and bushes, fields and ranges on the backdrop. The platter was excellent in terms of both variety of fresh and tasty items and the volume of food. The wine match the food well – we had a mild, well balanced, not oversweet and very accommodating Pinot Grigio, which was just right for the type of food and day time (we got a dozen of bottles of it along when leaving home). The winery offers few interesting wines of non-mainstream (for New Zealand) types of grape. They also produce quite a remarkable 10-year fortified Cabernet - which is as good as a port in Douro valley of Portugal, and could be an excellent souvenir from New Zealand. I would strongly recommend trying it if you are visiting the place – you cannot buy it elsewhere.

We had Ransom wine recommended to us so we took a day trip up there to get us a bottle and we were not disappointed. Very nice drop.
