Stunning location and the hotel certainly is impressive from the outside. Equally impressive lounge and main restaurant area. Has all the hall marks of grand English/French hilltop, colonial retreats, it reminded me of the Hydro-Majestic in the Blue Mountains, near Sydney. Ruapehu room was fine, I thought it may be a bit musty and dusty from some of the other reviews but it was elegant. We ate at the cafe rather than the main restaurant which was fine. Funny little pool and huge sauna, good gym area plus a good games room and cinema for the kids.
