This was our 19th trip to NZ and we had driven by Oliver's many times. It is by far our "new" favorite hotel in the country. One can tell that David and Andie have taken the best of their own travel stays and put them together to give their hotel a unique and memorable experience. Everywhere you look there are surprise touches that are found in the most expensive hotels in the world. Each room "speaks" to certain individuals and everyone can enjoy the history. We also stayed in the Soap Factory because we liked the stone walls and the history behind the room.
Breakfast was fantastic.
We plan on staying for several days on our 20th trip!
WIFI was the best connection of our travels in NZ.

Room Tip: Stable rooms have stone walls and showers, looking out on beautiful courtyard. Rooms in the main ho...

Delightful accommodation surrounded by beautiful country gardens and offering the most sumptuous breakfast of Otago fruits, homemade breads and produce. A place not to be missed if you are visiting Clyde.

This is the best accommodation I have enjoyed in 14 years of visiting new Zealand. A beautifully restored property with urbane and helpful hosts and an excellent breakfast. And no muzac to destroy the ambience. Even a lovely garden in which to sit out and relax.

An extraordinary find on the edge of the desert in Central Otago. A veritable English Country Garden and David and Andie have got it just right. A beautiful place of calm and serenity with wonderful individually furnished rooms of exquitue taste and elegance. All of the rooms looked fabulous when David showed us around the house and they have done a remarkable job of restoring the property back to its former glory and some! You will not be disappointed with this place and like many other reviewers we wish that we had booked for more than one night. A place to return to on our next visit to sample yet more fabulous wines and to cycle the Otago Rail Trail where there are extensive cycle tracks to explore.

Clyde was a great historical town with plenty of interesting things to see. The recently opened cinema across the road was a revelation with its plush comfortable armchair seats!

Breakfast was lovely too especially the baked eggs. A real treat.

We stayed in one of the stable rooms, The Soap factory with its wonderful stone walls and wooden floors. It felt very atmospheric and totally in keeping with the history of the property and the town. The sitting room in the main house had some marvellous books to delve into if you like History and especially that of NZ. We can't praise this place highly enough.

Room Tip: If you like rustic choose a stable room. If you like elegance with roomy bathrooms go for a room in...

We stayed in one of the stables rooms (Soap Factory) just prior to setting out on the Rail Trail. A great experience all round. The room was comfortable and full of character, opened out onto a lovely garden courtyard. The hosts were very accommodating and breakfast was outstanding. Recommended.

Room Tip: Soap Factory was great.

Last stop at the end of our Otago Rail Trail.

Beautiful boutique stay. Group of 11, some of us stayed in the refurbished stables, my husband and I stayed in the Davidson room.

Stable rooms were individually decorated. Beautiful fabrics, furnishings, artwork and attention to detail. Gorgeous bedding and sleep was easy in such a comfortable bed.

Our inside room was spacious, light filled modern bathroom. Bath and shower, room opened to the courtyard which we were able to use. Cottage garden feel. Wedding planned for the weekend.

Hosts David and Andy. We helpful and kind without being intrusive.

The breakfast was delicious - fabulous preserved fruits, home made toasted muesli, beautiful bread.

Little touches included - little tea pots, little miniature bottles of milk, bone handled knives, little antique teaspoons and delicious freshly prepared baked eggs.

Clyde was also an interesting historic town that had little walks and points of interest.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend to others.

Would definitely return for a special weekend.

David and Andy are an inspiration and their immaculate taste makes a stay in the exquisitely renovated house, a total pleasure. They have thought of everything.
The grand tour of their achievements in just 4 years is breathtaking and their contribution to the history and tourism of the area is enormous.
Breakfast was divine and then to be able to jump enthusiastically on to our bikes and head off down the road, what a perfect start!

Room Tip: We had a room in the main house with a most delightfully light and airy bathroom.
