John and Marie, the owners of Dunstan house, are absolutely great. The Breakfast is just lovely and you will keep on eating!
The house has its own history and each room has its own character.

Very lovely!

If you enjoy going back in time, experience a fantastic historic house, yet still enjoy the luxuries of modern live, then Dunstan House is your place!
Maree and John are great hosts who have made the perfect choices in refurbishing this colonial house without losing the old character.
The continental style breakfast was lovely. Too much to chose from and I fully agree with the author of the former review. Please do read that review! All they have been writing, is true.

Having decided to nip off to Central Otago for a weekend break, we scoured the Net for accomodation in the quaint and historical little hamlet of Clyde. And struck gold with Dunstan House. Wowee .....this place has been lovingly restored to resemble in every facet, a colonial homestead. We stepped through the tiny front door into a grand wood panelled and a sweeping staircase, and a fantastically friendly welcome. We were shown up the stairs to our suite (we opted for that at a mere $180 per night including a wonderful breakast buffet but they have cheaper rooms). Going through the whole interior reminded me of visiting stately homes back in the UK! Anyway, the suite was breathtakingly "posh" and just like (I imagine) the interior of a Victorian home but with 50% less clutter and lighter, airier colours. Our "drawing room" even had a chaise-longue. And a good selection of up to date glossy magazines. It was quite a treat to step out from the room onto the balcony with a glass of port , a magazine and...just let time pass! The bedroom was amazing. A lace coverlet on a large canopied bed which I almost needed a set of steps to climb up into ! And two bathrobes. The ensuite was another lovely surprise. No "shrubs" here thank goodness. Just a shower head and a HUGE bath to stretch out in (and the hot water gushed at the first turn of the tap). The totally relaxing experience was assisted by the lack of TV, telephone and mini-fridge. Instead, there was a decanter of (gratis) port on a silver tray. Tea and coffee making facilities were on the landing (plus a tin of biscuits). Other rooms, some ensuite, some not, were also off the landing. I had a wee peek inside some and all were unique and quite beautifully appointed. One of the nice wee touches I noticed in a smaller room without ensuite, was a torch on the bedside table .....presumably to help guide your nightime path to the loo in case someone turns the landing lights off!
Downstairs was a grand lounge complete with piano and another decanter of port (you just help yourself!). And another small lounge contains a TV, a phone and a selection of games. The breakfast buffet table groaned with unusual delights of the cold cuts variety.. I won't make a list but it's not often you find copious amounts of smoked salmon and your fruit juice selection comes in individual bottles (Bengers - it's quite the best). I could rave about this place for ages but will simply say it's an absolute treasure and a luxurious retreat from the rat-race.
