“What dramas?”

Sometimes you find that special place where all the 'stuff' just rolls of your shoulders, instant relaxation & happiness. This was it for us. We loved everything. We had the best place its not flash but we could happily live there forever :). Balconey at the front, cool grassy area at the back. Views and surrounds just beautiful. Very comfortable place & beds.
Yes internet a bit difficult but we found that in a lot of places but here we had better things to do!

The Mataki Motel is located a few blocks off the main road through Murchison, so we had a very quiet night's sleep. The room was well-appointed yet simple: bed, table with chairs, arm chair, microwave, kettle, toaster, and plates/mugs/cutlery. Shower was awesome with great water pressure. Definitely worth the $95 paid for the night. Friendly owners. Only drawback was that we kept the windows open a little too long and ended up with some bugs in the room as it got dark outside.

Great sleep in a quiet location. No Road noise and a friendly host. Room was was clean and neat with a comfortable bed. Had a great sleep and woke refreshed and ready to go. Well priced, therefore good value.

I broke my trip with a stop over for a night in Murchison, to save driving on to Nelson late in the day. This was a return visit and I would stay there again. It has all the basics: easy parking, TV, good bed, plenty of hot water. It is useful to have a microwave, small fridge and tea making facilities. The room price is good for what you get: a couple of beds and a clean room. Nothing very flash. The sunny rooms tend to get a bit hot on a summer afternoon.

Visited on 29th of January, lady at the reception was not very welcoming, no smile, just a mumbled "110$", no infos about the town (my girlfriend was looking at some leaflets). Room is okay, bed could be cleaner. Internet access is terrible to say the least (and the advertise with: free wifi!), had to sit in front of the office on the street to get it!! Really too expensive for what it is...drive through Murchison if you can!

Perfect overnight stop for our family of four after a three-day hike in Abel Tasman NP. Spa bath, proper dining setting, kitchen with everything we needed to cook a square meal. Very clean and quiet. At $135NZ a night it was great value and we wish we stayed an extra night and saw a bit more of Murchison area.

Room Tip: Stayed in back RH unit and getting our car in between others already parked was tricky.

Self contained and clean, the beds were comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. We had five adults in two rooms. It was affordable and had a beautiful veiw. There was also plenty of spacious car parks, which was really great when travelling
