Omarama is a staging post between Christchurch/Mt Cook and Queenstown/Dunedin. There are a limited choice of hotels and the Heritage Gateway would be an excellent choice. The rooms are very clean, quiet and with plenty of space. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Both breakfast and the evening meal were fine and they have a nice bar for pre/pots dinner drinks. We had a most enjoyable stay.

We arrived just after 2 coachloads, but were attended to quickly in reception. Delighted to receive an upgrade, to one of the refurbished rooms. This was very spacious and well-equipped. Despite facing the road, and the two coachloads of guests, the hotel was very quiet.

There is not much in Omarama, however this is a lovely hotel with good service and clean large rooms.

The restaurant food is a little too fancy, try the local pub across the road for a good meal.

The hotel staff were very helpful and knowledgeable of the surrounding tourist activities.
