Group of older ladies from a Walking/dawdling group booked for our mid winter lunch--change from eating sandwiches on a walking track. We arrived earlier than our booked time but were greeted warmly and assured this was not a problem. The place was lovely and warm, the staff very friendly, the menu a good variety for a light lunch and the meals excellent. Price suited our budgets too. The surroundings were excellent with some beautiful old furniture on display and in use for hanging coats. The manager took time to talk to us about the developments being down to revitalise the historic nature of Kumara and to tell us about the parts of the new cycle way which would appeal to a group of less able walkers. While we knew most of this,it was great to hear it delivered with such enthusiasm.
We enjoyed our visit so much we are planning to make an outing to the hotel our alternative for days when the weather stops us from walking. Some of us are going to take advantage of other events happening at the hotel.
Definitely a place we will return to in our group or with friends and family.
