“Views of Mount Cook”
Reviewed 17 March 2012

Trish and Collin gave us a warm welcome to the accommodation and Trish provided one of the most substantial meals we ate during our trip; dish after dish arrived. And eating at Collin's incredible table made this even more special. We wish we could have eaten more of Trish's wonderful vegetables but the chicken and lamb was also so tempting. Trish arranged a helicopter trip for us for 10 the following morning and then as we were sitting down for breakfast, with Mount Cook visible she got a call to say we had to go straight away as the weather was closing in. So we just got in a heli ride and a landing on the glaciers. We didn't do Trish's lovely breakfast justice the first morning, but certainly did the second and third. Wonderful hosts and lovely accommodation.

The breakfast and view of Mt Cook from the beautiful breakfast spread were amazing! It was also nice to watch a rugby match with Collin, Trish and two other guests sipping some lovely local wine they offered. It was one of the few locations we stayed that had free wireless internet, so we could catch up with friends/family back home. We stayed in the main house and it might have been one of the best night's sleep I got on the trip. Colin also provided some very helpful suggestions for stops along our drive the next day.

We were so impressed by the genuine hospitality and friendliness of both Trish and Colin. The accommodation was first class, a welcoming drink and snacks on arrival and a grand breakfast in the Morning
Their recommedations of where to eat, what to see and do could only come from people with local knowledge and interest.
We enjoyed sharing their obvious love of their locality and got some great photos of the mountains and glacier because of this.

My mum and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Ropatinis for one night. We stayed in the Garden room, which was very spacious, spotessly clean and with a massive ensuite bathroom. Very pretty setting with flowerbeds out the front of our room. Breakfast was delicious and our hosts were absolutely wonderful and very knowledgeable. We were very fortunate to have perfect weather, and the view from the breakfast table was absolutely stunning - perfect views of both Mt Tasman and Mt Cook peaks. The B&B was about a 3 minute drive from town down towards Lake Matheson. Overall we had a fantastic stay, and I highly recommend this B&B to anyone looking for accomodation in Fox Glacier.

Trish offers different style rooms at different prices, and we had the garden suite for 2 nights. It came with electric blankets, big non-shared bathroom and main room, and is separate from their house. A really nice place and their breakfast each morning was good. We enjoyed chatting with them over breakfast. They are about 2 min drive down the main side road in fox glacier and 5 min drive from lake Matheson.

The room with shared bathroom might be a better value, but we enjoyed our stay.

On the last leg of our 2 weeks exploring the South Island, we decided to stay at Ropatinis B&B in Fox Glacier…

The house is located right after the school and on the road leading to the amazing Lake Matheson… we were greeted by our host Trish, which was a sun during all our stay… the house has a southern warm feeling and the rooms are frugally decorated but inviting… the bed is very comfortable but the bathroom was very small… not a big issue… good free wifi in the house…

Breakfast was served every morning consisting of fruits, bakes, coffee and the… more than enough for those of you with good appetite… We had breakfast both days with Trish and one day as well with Colin and they are certainly the bomb… we enjoyed very much our stay here and would certainly recommend it to other travelers since we think it is value for money and provides a nice insight into the NZ lifestyle…
