This hotel is well below expectation, especially for the price paid. On entry to my room the first thing that I noted was the smell. Foul!

Room facilities are very basic. No desk. No vanity or shelves in bathroom. Not even a shelf for the spare towels. Internet is $5/hr, in an age where many hotels in this price bracket offer it free of charge.

Our tour guide told us not to expect much from this hotel, but it was a nice enough place. The room was OK, and it was clean, so for a one night stay that was all that really mattered for us.
The evening meal was nice, and the breakfast was OK.
Fox Glacier is a very small place, but there's only really one reason for going there anyway! The glacier itself is quite close to the hotel and well worth the trip and the long-ish walk as far as you're allowed to go.

We had arrived from Queenstown after a few stops on the way and still awaiting to see the glacier. Before our food we were taken the 5 miles to the glacier location and given time to
take photos.
On arrival back at the hotel we found we were in room 109 which was at the back of the hotel.
There were 2 beds in the room, old style tv and a very open bathroom, ie a shower with no glass surroundings and a small curtain. The floor did get slightly wet.!!!!
We had a sit down 3 course meal in the evening, I had smoked salmon salad, venison stew and mud pie. A good choice.
In the morning I had a form of crunch cereal which was very tasty and after that eggs on toast was all I needed.

This was a stopover on a NZ coach tour. There is little choice here but this hotel is about 1 level above a backpacker hostel. Very run down and we didn't really want to get into bed that night. Need we say more.

the hotel is rather rundown but clean. the rooms are good size but have very old furniture and are extremely basic looking- nothing fancy here!! no fan or a/c on hot days so the room was hot, but there were many windows to open. but they didn't have screens and tere are a lot of bugs here!! walls are thin- you can hear the neighbors.
it's an ok place to stay but stay elsewhere if you want an attractive room.

We got here late evening after a tiring drive of 700 kms + (Te Anau, to Milford Sound and via Queenstown). We were redirected from the heartland Hotel (main street) to this 'sister' property about 200 yds away.
Imagine holding the keys to room 306 (?) and being told that the Hotel has no lift !! Luckily our room was on the 1st floor, but still needed several trips to carry all our luggage upstairs. Gent at recption was helpful.
3 single beds were adequate, the room & bathroom were clean. I was too tired driving to make an evening of it. My wife & son got adequate quality food at a restaurant nearby.
Ample parking available close by.
Unfortunately, overnight rain worsened weather conditions such that all Glacier heli-hikes were cancelled the next day.

Reasonably good value for money.

Room Tip: I guess anythin facing the front might have a reasonable view

By the time we arrived in Fox, it was dark and the receptionist was very friendly, he gave ustheir rates and pamphlets on things to do while in Fox. It cost us $160 to stay for a week day night, which I found a bit over priced especially compared to the rest of NZ. It was a nice room, clean, tidy with a woody cottage like feel, cute balcony in this old country style hotel. This hotel has charm. We had a late meal & it was a great hearty meal, just what the doctor ordered including great service. All in all this is a very good friendy stopover while travelling down the west coast of NZ, if the weather wasn't so bad we would have stayed an extra night.

Room Tip: main building I'm told
