My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in March, as we explored the Fox Glacier region.

Jane and the girls made us most welcome (Gary was away the first night) and we felt very comfortable with being in their area of the house. Breakfast was great with a choice of cooked eggs, bacon, toast and cereals.

The room and ensuite was very clean with thoughtful touches such as chocolates on the pillow. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in.

The house is in a great location within easy walking distance of the town centre.

My husband and I spent 2 nights with Gary and Jane and their lovely family in early November, 2013. They open their comfortable family home to visitors like us, and welcome them like family members, always striving (and succeeding!) to please. Both mornings we had a delicious breakfast, including freshly baked bread. Snacks are always available, which was a nice touch. The room itself is comfortable and cozy, with an ensuite bathroom...all very clean, and well supplied. Jane was able to book us on a glacier hike through Fox Glacier Guiding as soon as we arrived (she works for them, and has access to the schedule), which was also a wonderful experience for us. The home is on the edge of town, and it is an easy walk to everything in the small town of Fox; we ended up having dinner both nights at the Last Kitchen...really yummy both times...we were able to sit by a lovely fire the second night...very cozy! There is also a terrific view of Mt. Cook if you drive out towards the Matheson Cafe...our only view of that magnificent peak during our visit!!
This was the one stay during our trip that allowed us to be a part of family life...we chose to have some chats and use the common areas which are used by the family, as well. We thoroughly enjoyed having this opportunity, and to get to know this generous, easy-going and charming family!

Jane and Gary offer a nice room with en suite bathroom in their pleasant family home. You soon feel part of the lovely family. They gave us a lot of insight into life in this remote area, very useful information about things to do and see and even arranged a special rate for a helicopter flight for us. We loved our stay!

It wasn't the fault of our hosts that frustrating low cloud and drizzle prevented our helicopter ride over the glaciers around Mount Cook. They did their best in offering clean, comfortable and hospitable accommodation with Gary keeping us posted on latest weather reports and Jane making us feel at home with her 2 young daughters, her amusing dogs and her bread making and helping me to send emails on her laptop, without mouse! This was an informal B&B but if not quite 5 star then a place to feel relaxed.

A lovely homestay, where you really feel a part of the family during your stay. Both Jane and Gary have a very relaxed approach and a wealth of knowledge about the area and will happliy advise on the best things to do in the area. Fox Glacier is a lovely little town set in one of the most beautiful areas of NZ. Whilst staying in Fox, we did a Heli Hike trip to Fox Glacier which Jane helped us to book. The walk around Lake Matheson is well worth doing too. On our day of departure Jane sent us off with some homemade carrot cake - very yummy!! An excellent stay in a beautiful place!

Jane and Gary couldn't have been better hosts. They spent the time to give us so much local information, great things to do, and excellent restaurant recommendations. the kids are a delight, and the dogs and cat so much fun to be around. And despite pets and kids the place was spotless, beautifully clean. The bedroom and en suite were super comfortable and spacious. Highly highly recommended- the best place to stay in Fox.
