What could there be not to like except we waited a bit for our helicopter to take off - that was ok we enjoyed people watching on the main drag. The pilot was young and very friendly. He flew around the glaciers and landed on Franz Josef - it was warm that day probably 24 C on the ground so I would have bet 18C at least on the glacier. The pilot was good with his commentary of what we were seeing. I am sure that this is allotted but we had enough time to tromp around on the glacier that we didn't feel we had been rushed. I can not recommend this excursion enough - we live in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies - and for me this is a must see and do in New Zealand

Was so looking forward to this trip as we had seen it on the internet before we came to New Zealand. The pilot, made us all feel at ease before we took off and commentated on all the ares as we ascended up the mountains. We flew over Franz Josef and the landed on Fox Glacier. He took all the photos people ask him to and gave us as much time as we wanted there. It was a truly memorable trip- not to be missed.

early morning is the best time to get a flight, as the weather can come in and the helicopters can not fly. The view is magnificent and the glacier is like nothing else you have seen, it has a blue tinge and very cratered. Summer is the rainy season and therefore harder to get a clear day, but I went at 7:30am and enjoyed the whole experience.

We made a last mnute decision to take a flight over Mnt Cook & the glaciers as it was a beautiful clear evening. At about 5.30pm we were looked around the village and offered 3 flights but chose this company as they were a local family business and they said that their minimum number to fly was 2, not 3 like the other companies. They said to come back at 6.15, then 6.30 then 6.45 at which point we started to become suspicious that the flight wasn't going to happen. When we pressed the guy he made a phonecall and said no the pilot couldn't get back until late. He suggested we try somewhere else and helpfully rang some other operators who all said nothing was available. As we only had this one opportunity we were bitterly disappointed. We decided to try elsewhere anyway and glacier helicopters were very helpful and we did get to fly that evening on the route we wanted. I can't comment on the quality of their service but I suggest you query whether their flight is definitely happening before you commit to it. Often due to weather and itineraries you only get one chance! The weather is very changeable. Often flights in the morning are delayed as there may be early morning mist, so keep your fingers crossed. Generally it does appear that you can book last minute and this seems the sensible thing to do if you are planning a visit there but perhaps don't leave it quite so last minute as we did. Having said that the pilot said that a clear blue sky in the evening was the best time to go.

We were booked to do a twin glacier flight with another company from Fox Glacier that got cancelled due to clouds. We were rebooked by them for a take off from Franz Josef that also got canceled due to insufficient people. I walked into the Heliservices Office at 6:15pm and they got me on a chopper in 20 minutes! We had an amazing landing at FJ glacier and great views. The pilot couldn't get onto Fox due to clouds. On return when we mentioned this they refunded part of our payment - really appreciated this gesture.
This was easily one of the best evenings of our lives!
Their rates are marginally lesser than some of the other companies. My 3 year old son travelled free on my lap next to the window with a kids harness and loved it.
Thank you guys for saving the day!!
