We enjoyed a one night stay at this wonderful accommodation, which is perfectly situated to tour the glaciers. Our host, Bernie, was incredibly helpful with our plans and reservations, and we regret that we only had one night to stay.

We stayed two nights in the gorgeous suite with awesome views. Bernie and Gerard, the owner,s maintain an immaculate home and B&B. They are full of hospitality, helpful hints, and delicious breakfasts and cocktail hours.

Bertie and Gerard exude hospitality from every pore. From breakfast through to recommendations through to a glass of port at night, they are always waiting

The house is charming. We opted for the suite and were not disappointed. A sitting area comes complete with fridge, cutlery and plates along with coffee/tea making facilities and TV. There is a bathroom with claw and ball feet bath and walk-in shower. Beanie has even installed a small night light in the bathroom to ensure that no feet are stubbed on any nocturnal visit. It appears that this suite is a new feature but it has been completed in full sympathy with the rest of this arts and craft house with lots of wood and features.

The breakfast is cooked to order. Guests sit around the table and thus able to share their experiences. Gerard offers small or large portions. With the fruit, cereals, toast etc. this provides a good boost to the day. Beanie keeps the tea and coffee flowing.

This is a definite find.

We stayed here for one day during our honeymoon. The B&B is luxurious and pleasant with a countryside charm. The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming, giving us plenty of advice and a welcoming drink. The cooked breakfast in the morning was just the right thing we needed to help us set out again on our journey. Because the place is slightly outside the (quiet little) town it is very calm and peaceful. Sadly the weather wasn't perfect when we were there, but even with cloudy skies and very limited visibility of the surrounding mountains the view of the countryside was beautiful - you can tell the views must be spectacular on a clear day. For me this was definitely the nicest place along a whole host of nice places we stayed during our trip. I definitely want to return here and stay for longer this time!

Very well situated on outskirts of Franz Josef.

We were greeted by our hostess, shown to our lovely bedroom and invited to enjoy tea and homemade biscuits in the lounge.

After dinner we enjoyed a glass of complimentary port in the homely lounge with our fellow guests.

Good breakfast again shared with the other guests. We enjoyed the conversation with them and our hostess.

When we arrived at Holly Homestead B&B, Bernie (the owner) was very welcoming. On the way to the room she informed us that she upgraded us to the suite. While the first impression of house and owner was really good, this made us very happy! The rooms were beautifully decorated with great attention to detail, which gave them a personal touch. But not only the private rooms, the communal breakfast and living rooms were cozy too. The huge table in the middle of the dining room offered an opportunity to get in touch with the other guests. Breakfast was obviously home made by Bernie's husband and tasted absolutely delicious. Besides hosting us, she also gave us a lot of valuable information about the area, activities and dining options. Thanks Berni for making our stay at Holly Homestead feel like home.

We loved our two-day stay at Holly Homestead. The place is absolutely beautiful with large well furnished rooms and modern bathroom facilities. You must take notice of the magnificent wood throughout the house, walls, ceilings, doors, etc., and the many furnishing that appear to be made of the same beautiful wood. You will likely be met by Bernie who will get you settled and then be happy to help you out with anything you might need at Franz Josef such as reservations, check-ins, meal recommendations and such. You will find the beds very comfortable and the location very quiet, so a good nights sleep should be a given. In the morning you can expect a wonderful full breakfast with Gerard attending to the kitchen duties in fine fashion. If you are not in a rush, breakfast is a wonderful time to sit and chat with Bernie and Gerard.

The Holly Homestead is located perhaps as much as a mile out of Franz Josef making it quiet in the evenings but still very convenient to all the major attractions in town. You will love this spot and you will love Bernie and Gerard.
