An unexpected pleasure was discovering the Saints cafe and bar operating in the Mount Lyford lodge.
Whether you are passing through the picturesque drive between the Canterbury plains and the Kaikoura coast or if you are looking for a getaway destination, the Mount Lyford Lodge is set up to meet your requirements and well worth the stop. Open from 7am till late this experienced provisioner can meet your meal or accommodation needs. The log lodge sits well in its sub alpine countryside and generous decks give great seating to admire the awesome views.
I was impressed with the range and quality of food on offer. The wine list is very good also. The cherry on the cake was the efficient, friendly front of house service, backed up by an efficient kitchen. Well done. Definitely worth taking the scenic route!
Consider stopping the night. The morning views are worth it.
