“Great room and wonderful view”
Reviewed 30 January 2012

We arrived in Port Angeles for a Roller Derby bout and wanted to stay on the water. Noticed a couple of reviews regarding the ferry horn and was a little skeptical. You could not even hear the horn unless you were on the balcony and it sounded way far away! We paid extra to have a view from the water. They had actually put us on the 1st floor and we did not like that people were walking by on the dog path looking in our room so we asked the check in gentlemen if we could switch rooms and he was more than accomodating. He moved us without a beat and the view was wonderful. We sat on the balcony and watched the boats come in and out of the bay. Restaurant was just closing at 9pm when we came back from the bout, but there was so many of us that they kept it open for all of us to eat. Great service, great place to stay! If we ever come back to PA we will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for the 2nd floor and on the water

Since we have family in the area, we will be coming twice a year. Well we added a new addition to the family in December so spent 3 full weeks here. The staff was friendly including the Front Desk Manger Hannah; the bar staff Koko, Woody and Marvin; the bar menu for eating was the cheapest in town....$5 meals!!!! Our waterfront room we got on a Red Lion online special and was worth the money; we watched the Boat Parade from our room as well as the Polar Bear club jump into the icy waters on New Years Day! Watching the walkers on the Discovery Trail or the ferry leaving for Victoria is just awesome! And only steps away from town.

Room Tip: Ask for waterfront room

The Port Angeles Red Lion is located right on the Strait of Juan de Fuca and is one of the most comfortable stays in the area. Choose a water side room which will provide you with a view of the ferry terminal, aquarium and Ediz Crook. You can enjoy your coffee from the balcony as you enjoy the sunrise. The walking path is conveniently located and will provide you, your family and your puppy with a welcomed walk!

The rooms are nicely appointed, comfortable and SAFE! We enjoy the restaurant (when arriving late) and you'll enjoy the pool and spa not to mention close proximity to all down town shops.

Room Tip: Always ask for a water side room!

We stayed at this Hotel for 3 weeks. We had a waterfront room. Each time we stay here we like it more and more. View of the harbor and the Straits of Juan de Fuca......the rooms are huge with nice arrangement. Bathroom/dressing room area has 2 sinks and plenty of closet space. We even this time enjoyed the Polar Bear Club take their plunge on New Years Day!

Room Tip: Always ask for a waterfront room even if you did not reserve one

My wife and I stayed at this hotel on the day after Thanksgiving just to get away from the Black Friday events in our home town. When we arrived, the friendly young lady at reception had our room reservation waiting for us and included a free upgrade. We had fantastic views of the waterfront and all the activity going on. Since it was a beautiful day, we took our little dog for a walk around the hotel and along the water. We had a complimentary breakfast the next morning and it wasn't a buffet, or continental breakfast, but an order off the menu breakfast with omelets, ham, bacon, or what ever you wanted. Our waitress was wonderful. She kept our coffee cups full and gave us all that we requested with a friendly smile and a few kind words. Our room was clean, in perfect working order, and no noisy traffic or party rooms. I would recommend this hotel if you ever stay in Port Angeles. It's right next to the Blackball Ferry to Victoria and you could walk right out of your room to the ferry and spend a day in Victoria and return to your room at night. We will deffinately use this hotel if we ever return!

Room Tip: The views from the upper floors overlooking the waterfront are the best.

My husband and I booked "The Height of Comfort" package. When we arrived, my husband went in to check in and was warmly greeted and presented with our packet.
Included was a waterfront room with beautiful views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, that management kindly upgraded to a suite. Breakfast for two was included with made to order omelets in addition to buffet offerings. We used the $40.00 coupon included in the package for the restaurant, Port Angeles CrabHouse to order room service for dinner. We ordered steak, and salad and dessert and enjoyed it all.
The room was spacious and comfortable, with the promised view, and a bottle of local wine and wine tasting tour map on the table when we arrived. The food was all just fine, the wine was a nice treat and the bed was comfortable. Really the whole experience was above our expectations. And the best part? Our room was only a 5 minute walk to the ferry to Victoria.
We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Water view rooms are definitely worth it.
