This is the perfect downtown hotel one block from the harbor and in walking distance to downtown and great restaurants. It's basic and clean with a comfortable bed. You can choose to share a bath or have a private one. The front desk staff is extremely helpful. True, there is no elevator, but this is an historic building in downtown and consists of the top two floors above a restaurant. There is also no air conditioning, but they will provide a fan if you request one, but days above 80 are very infrequent.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room for more windows.

Great downtown hotel walking distance to restaurants, shopping, a block from the ferry, and super helpful staff. Thanks Anthony for helping our group with reservations, recommendations for food!

Rooms are very clean, both private and European bath options, quiet and up off the main road. Will absolutely use The Downtown Hotel as our main accommodations when in Port Angeles!

The hotel has no a/c but we opened the windows and the room cooled off and the stale smell went away. The bed was comfortable and we did not have to share a bathroom? The biggest complaint I had is there is no elevator and we were on the 2nd floor. However, the desk clerk was very nice and helped us lug our suitcases up the stairs. The view from our window was lovely. We looked out on the harbor and could see Victoria, BC and ships coming in & out of the harbor. The breakfast room was nice but small.

The entire hotel, including the rooms, smell like feet. There was a large brown stain on the chair in our room, and the blankets on the bed were questionable. I would not recommend this hotel, it's basically a small step above a hostel.

I stayed in a room (#15) that shared a bathroom. Room was a good size, but no view of any kind - the smallish window looked at the roof of the building next door. Great location, a block from the ferry terminal and right downtown - saying that it was quiet, no road noise or anything.
They don't have a bike lockup, but told me just to bring my bike up to the room, which worked out just fine..
The rooms and bathrooms were very clean and comfortable, although the hotel was full, there was no waiting for a bathroom - all have showers. No coffee makers or microwaves in the room. The TV in Room #15 was very small and old and lacked a remote - although I noticed flat-screen TV's in other rooms.
However, for the price I had absolutely no complaints and would happily stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that's not immediately adjacent to a bathroom.

Our room was relatively clean and comfortable, and the bed was very comfortable. Regarding the shared bathroom, I'd just like to clarify that there are a few single bathrooms in the hallway. When you have the bathroom, it's all yours. The morning was a little noisy. I'm told that a lot of the other guests get up early to catch the ferry. So, if you're really into sleeping in, this may not be the best place for you.

When we arrived, there was nobody at the front desk, but there is a phone there with a number to call. We called, and a young man appeared within two minutes. He didn't go out of his way to answer our questions thoroughly, and disappeared as soon as he gave us our key, but he was polite.

We chose to stay here because it was right in town, but the town seems to close up shop pretty early. We rolled in around 6:00 p.m., and the diner below the motel was open, but little else was. So, staying in town wasn't as important as we thought it would be. But, all in all, we thought it was a fine place to stay and would stay there again.

For 50$ a night this lodging is wonderful. It was immaculately clean, the staff were friendly and the bed comfortable. We stayed one night prior to boarding the ferry one block away. Our room looked out on a roof, but if you leaned and looked to the right you could see the Olympic Range. Bathrooms and showers are in the hallway. You get towels and a floor mat in your room, and don't forget your bar of soap because there is none in the shower! Room had a sink. My only recommendation is that the room needed a box of tissues and a trash can. Not sure if ice was available...didn't notice any and the desk was un-staffed at night. Security good as the street door is locked overnight. No parking lot, and street parking is available depending on day of the week (street sweeper schedule). Great do-nut shop and a cafe downstairs.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front may have some traffic noise but a good view.
