Our stay at this Inn was perfect in every way. It was at the start of our road trip, and we were wowed as we drove up the drive, the initial view is stunning. The setting is perfect, perched on top on the cliff, with the snow capped mountains in the back ground. Janet & Dan our hosts were so nice, friendly & welcoming. We were the only guests staying at the time & we have never had such a peaceful, luxurious stay anywhere. Breakfast was different every day & really nice food, served in the verandah (inside), with views over the sea to Vancouver Island. We were even treated to deer on the lawn.
Our room was the Surveyors Retreat (one of the smaller! rooms), however by our standards the room was huge, with a very spacious bathroom and whirlpool bath (overlooking the sea). Every attention to detail has been made with this property, the quality of fittings and bedding etc is superb.
There is free wifi & access to a pc & the library where we used the time & materials for the finer planning details of our trip. Port Angeles is 10 minutes drive away, and Janet made us reservation at Kokopelli's (really good restaurant) on our first night. Our subsequent nights we just grabbed food and ate on the verandah, as we just wanted to spend time there. At the time we visited (June) the lavender was coming out giving a beautiful purple haze to the garden.
I felt offended when I read a couple of negative reviews from people who had never even stayed here. This is a private residence, and as a guest I would not have wanted other people tramping around either. Anyone who has actually stayed here I'm sure would feel the same as we did. This is a perfect place in a fantastic location, with fantastic hosts. We have made a pact that we will stay here again sometime.

Room Tip: some of the rooms have self catering facilities, but all are very spacious. We would have been more...

Green Features: This is a morden house (built on a plan of Mt Vernon), and so its very well built to modern standards. heating is controlled by a thermostat (which we didn't need)

This inn is a gem - built to look like George Washington's Mount Vernon, it is fully modern and beautifully done inside. Views from the front of the inn are of the Olympic Mountains and lavender fields, from the back views are of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the San Juan Islands and Vancouver Island. Breakfasts were delicious and served on a glassed in porch. Janet and Dan were very welcoming and informative and clearly love the area. They gave us good advice on hikes and restaurants in the area and always knew the answer to questions about the area. We stayed three nights and hiked Hurricane RIdge, Lake Crescent and other places in the Olympic National Park. We didn't want to leave.

My husband & I were touched immediately with the beautiful surroundings as we approached the magnificent George Washington Inn! We were greeted warmly by Janet and later her husband Dan. The Inn is amazing and there is not one bad view .... surrounded by God's glorious creation... my husband and I were stunned and felt so blessed to be staying at such a beautiful place inside and out. We stayed in the Generals Suite (AMAZING Suite!) which was upstairs overlooking Vancouver and San Juan Islands!! BTW huge veranda upstairs to sit and look out over the channel. So much attention to detail with the rooms, more than comfortable, we slept like babies; although we couldn't wait to wake up each morning in anticipation of what our eyes would behold. Dan & Janet were wonderful and so accommodating and always there to help with information. Janet made sure we had reservations for Dockside Grill to eat (which was fabulous) But always gave us space...very gracious and kind people. We loved the breakfasts and meeting others too was a highlight. We look forward to returning someday to this BLESSED PLACE

My wife and I along with four other couples spent two nights at the George Washington Inn and our experience was outstanding. The rooms and breakfast were fantastic. Unbelievable views of the mountains of Olympic National Park from the front of the Inn and the water and Vancouver Island from the back. Our group has taken a trip together annually since 2005 and we put the George Washington Inn as one of the best places we have stayed!

My husband and I stayed here in the Surveyor's Retreat room last April for a vacation week away together. it was wonderful! The breakfasts were absolutely amazing, especially loved the baked oatmeal. The view is beautiful from the breakfast area, and sometimes you'll see deer and other wildlife wandering across the huge back lawn. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The room was great, very clean and nice, with a nice big bathroom attached. Went hiking nearby, and one day drove to the Hoh Forest for hiking, very beautiful there. The Inn is between Port Angeles and Sequim so not a lot to do in the immediate area besides hiking, but it's a short drive to restaurants. We mainly hiked and relaxed, a great week away, would have loved to stay longer if we could have! Would definitely return.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Surveyor's Retreat and it was quiet, you get a personal key to your room as wel...

My wife and I spent a night here at the George Washington in early March and it was a wonderful experience. The service was great, the rooms are very well appointed and the view of the Straits and Dungeness Valley is gorgeous. Spending some time with George Washington was also a nice surprise. If you're looking for a great getaway I highly recommend the George Washington Inn.
