“Mostly great but shower lacking”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2014

I agree with many travelers that this hotel is great - clean, quiet, comfortable beds, good amount of towels, friendly staff...and so on. It is my understanding that it is the best hotel in Port Angeles. However, I do have a complaint regarding the shower. It is a very light shower that is extremely difficult to adjust the temperature. Once adjusted, it takes a while to wet a good head of hair. Since many guests are visiting the Olympics for some day hiking, it would be great to have showers that are refreshing and easy to use for tired outdoor adventures.

Thank you for staying with us at the Olympic Lodge and taking the time share your review. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed our staff as well as our cozy guest rooms! We apologize for the issue you encountered with your shower. I assure you I have followed up with maintenance staff to check that all showers are properly functioning. We value your feedback, without it we could not continue to improve and maintain our placement as the top choice hotel on the Olympic Peninsula. Thank you for being our guest and we hope to have you back at the Olympic Lodge soon!

The night we stayed here, we had originally planned on staying in Sequim. No rooms left there and someone recommended the Olympic Lodge. The had 2 vacancies so we went there. I remember this hotel from previous trips to Port Angeles several years ago. It's a beautiful place, but I was saddened to see that a motel and restaurant had been built in front of it. Once inside though, it's as lovely as ever. We had a mountain facing room on the 3rd floor. The room was very spacious, spotlessly clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We ate breakfast in the hotel. Although the food was good, I found it too pricey. We stayed for 2 nights and would stay again.

Room Tip: If possible, get a mountain facing room. The views are amazing.

We are so delighted that you had such a great stay with us! It is always pleasing to hear that you appreciated the ambiance of our lobby and that our guestrooms give plenty of space and allowed you to relax in pure comfort. The Whistling Frog is a full service breakfast restaurant, which offers a wide variety of tasty options prepared with fresh and local ingredients. It is great to hear you enjoyed your meal! We appreciate your feedback and look forward to having you back to the Olympic Lodge in the future.

Port Angeles has a sort of rundown feel to the city, maybe the ocean salt wears down the exteriors of buildings. Yet in this hotel is a first rate hotel with beautiful rooms, beds. Everything in the room is nicer than what you get at a Best Western or La Quinta type inn. The area near the lobby has a fireplace with logs burning, in the back is some kind of golf course. I didn't have much time to stay here, but it must be the best hotel in Port Angeles. It doesn't have free breakfast though. My room had two sinks which is convenient when traveling with a family.

As our car pulled up to the front of the hotel, I was prepared for disappointment. The Olympic Lodge looked like a typical, average highway motel. Then we entered the lobby. Wow! It was very modern with beautiful leather furniture comfortably situated around a cozy, burning fire in the hearth. The view out the back window was spectacular! The staff was warm and welcoming and incredibly helpful about everything a tourist would want to know. The room was spacious and nicely appointed and the maid service was first rate. There is a coffee maker in the room but I highly recommend the hotel cafe for both coffee and breakfast each morning. The food is locally sourced and excellent. In short, this hotel is a wonderful, comfortable home base for exploring the Olympic Peninsula and Victoria B.C. and it is reasonably priced. Five stars!

Room Tip: Call the hotel and ask for a room in the back. The front rooms are very nice but don't offer the...

What a cool place! Rooms are huge, beds are comfy, all very clean, cool little outdoor pool, breakfast is tasty. The inn is a bit outside city center, but easy to reach with a car. Staff is excellent and super friendly (thank you Travis, for your dinner tips!). Port Angeles is a hub to explore Olympic nationalpark, and the Olympic Lodge is definitively a very good homebase for this.

Only had one night to spend in Port Angeles, but fortunately we chose the Olympic Lodge. The location is ideal - very close to the Olympic National Park. Natural beauty at its Pacific Northwest best! We requested and received a room facing the golf course but away from the pool for guaranteed quiet. The room was perfect - very spacious, clean and tastefully furnished. The bed was very comfortable. The lobby was very beautiful and inviting. A nice place to sit and enjoy the beautiful view, with lovely rock waterfalls and access to the pool, which we did not use. Travis, at the front desk, was extremely helpful in suggesting "not to miss" places for our first visit to the area. On our drive back to Sea-Tac for our flight home, he highly recommended we stop in Port Townsend. It is a darling restored town dating back to the 1890's. We would have missed it entirely if Travis had not said, "You will love Port Townsend." It was a highlight of our drive back. We would definitely stay there again and will recommend it to friends.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view away from the pool are quieter, but it is not a rowdy property.
