“Best B&B Ever”
Reviewed 28 April 2012

We recently stayed at Domaine Madeline for 3 days over a long weekend, celebraing our 5th wedding anniversary. This was our first visit, and we definitely plan to come back. We have stayed at a number of other B&Bs, but this one tops our list, hitting five stars on all fronts: the room; the property; the food; the hospitality; the location.

Amazing attention to detail throughout, and our room (Ming) was great - beautiful, quiet, comfortable, private, with a wonderful water view. Supercomfy king size bed. Very private and relaxing, with many thoughtful in-room touches (slippers, robes, coffeemaker, small fridge, cd player and nice music collection, books/magazines, binoculars to watch the whales/eagles, wine opener/ice bucket) Comfy recliner chairs in front of the fireplace for reading, a flat screen TV/DVD player (with DVDS to borrow) Huge bathroom with jacuzzi, well stocked with toiletries an hair dryer. Dressing room with lots of closet hanging space and drawers for your clothes, and an iron/ironing board. Spotlessly clean throughout.

Owner/Innkeeper Jeri went out of her way to pamper us. The five course gourmet breakfast was amazing each of the three days, and Jeri was especially thoughtful in catering to my "food fussy" husband. We enjoyed chatting with Jeri and the other guests over the leisurely breakfast, but if you are on a time schedule, Jeri can accomodate if you let her know in advance.

All of the staff were friendly and helpful, and made us feel truly welcome. Jeri is very knowledgable about the area restaurants and attractions. Her recommendations were great (favorite restaurant was Alderwood Bistro in Sequim).

The Inn has a wonderful comfortable/classic house feel, more warm and personal than other "hotel type" inns, but still very private, as the rooms are spaced well apart. Although we went in mid-April before the blooms of summer, the garden was delightful. I can't wait to see it mid-summer!

Super base for exploring the Olympic Peninsula. We went to Lake Crescent, Sol Duc Hotsprings, Hurricane Ridge, Dungeness Spit, We also enjoyed exploring the shops in Port Angeles and Sequim, short drive away.

Room Tip: Ming room is top floor of house with fabulous views, huge jacuzzi, fireplace, supercomfy king bed an...

My husband and I went here for a few days just to get away. It was wonderful. The breakfast is a 5 course meal. The staff is knowledgable about the area and it's attractions. The room was so comfortable it was hard to leave it to go hiking.

Room Tip: there is no such thing as a bad room in this place.

I needed my GPS to find it, but it was worth it. Very impressed with not only the setting, but with the well decorated home. The owner was very friendly and seemed to have found her nich in life as a B&B owner.
We stayed in the Renoir room which was on the first floor and it was just beautiful. My wife loved the walk in the gardens and yard overlooking the water. We loved our visit..

Domaine Madeleine, despite its French name, is more Northwest and Asian than European. The B&B was named after the previous owner's wife, Madeleine, who infused a French flavor on this Olympic Peninsula inn. There are vestiges of France but the current owner has added more Asian art and northwest touches.

Still, it is a delightful place to stay - right on the Strait of Juan de Fuca with a view of Canada's Vancouver Island. The inn is closer to Sequim than Portl Angeles, but it is well situated to visit many of the sites, including the Olympic National Forest.

Breakfast is the highlight of the inn, with six or seven courses. Enough to get you through the entire day to dinner. You'll feast on fresh fruit, abundant at the time we were there, homemade baked goods, and salmon or crab cakes. And what is a meal without dessert? Yes, dessert with breakfast - apple crisp or another sweet to end the meal.

Our room was the only room located on the top floor of the main building - very large with a king-sized bed and a gorgeous view of the garden and water. We watched the cruise ships and ferries go in and out of the strait from the large deck. There is a huge dressing room with plenty of closet space and a refrigerator with coffee and a microwave oven.

The bathroom is amazing with the toilet that is also a bidet - a welcome addition, to say nothing of the jacuzzi for two.

The room has a small flat screen but also two large Lay-Z boy type chairs with a good reading light. Guests are invited to borrow DVDs from a huge collection. But who had time?

Domaine Madeleine is a little difficult to find at first. But it is in a great location and as quiet as you'll need.

Domaine Madeleine has jumped to the top of our favorite B&B list! As stated by other guests, the location is quiet and serene, the water view is mesmerizing, the rooms are relaxing and comfortable and the gardens spectacular....a true labor of love. However, it is Jeri who really makes your stay a wonderful experience. The breakfasts are incredible. The time and effort to make and present each of 5 courses is evident and Jeri takes the time to explain each course. Her love of cooking was very evident and we had "breakfast withdrawal" after we returned home. Jeri also knows so much about this area and is willing to share her knowledge and help her guests have a most enjoyable visit. Ask her a question and she will provide the answer! If our travels take us back this way, we will return to Domaine Madeleine.

Room Tip: Renoir suite includes a huge living room with large windows overlooking the water. Also, has a wood...

This B&B is excellant and Jerri goes out of her way to make you feel welcome, share her insights on what to see, where to eat and you will leave knowing she must be one of the best chefs in the county.

The rooms are very comfortable with nice view of the San Juan de Fuca. The gourmet breakfasts at Domaine Madeleine are fabulous- light and an unusual twist on a familiar meal. The garden full of shade plants and art pieces scattered throughout are stunning. Take time to wander through it, you will be very impressed..

Port Angeles is the gateway to the northern Olympic National Park, easy hop over to Victoria and has a fabulous bike trail to Sequim and beyond.

One thing to consider in making your lodging choice is the location - it is about 10 miles from Port Angeles and after a long day hiking or seeing the park it is a bit of a drive to go back to town for dinner.

Beautiful setting on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, fantastic Japanese Garden, comfortable room with a grand view of the water and tall trees, and WiFi in every room. Jeri, the owner and hostess, was very helpful with the local attractions with directions and suggestion, and the four nights we spend at Domaine Madeleine were certainly serene. However, the BEST part of the stay was the morning gourmet four course breakfast described in detail by Jeri This was simply an amazing food experience shared with interesting guests.
