“Great Place - Super Owners”
Reviewed 14 October 2009

Jan and Bob are super hosts in this quaint B & B. Started with a friendly greeting and great tea and cookies upon arrival. The next morning we took the ferry to Victoria. Since we missed breakfast, Bob packed us a nice bag breakfast and even dropped us off at the ferry terminal so we wouldn't have to pay the $11 for parking. We returned to more great cookies and the next morning we found out what we missed - a gourmet breakfast and friendly conversation. Jan has the house decorated beautifully. Stop looking - stay here.

Super friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast was awesome.

On arrival, they offered a scrumptious chocolate chip cookie and suggested that we visit Hurricane Ridge and recommended a local restaurant, the Downrigger, for dinner. We hadn't planned on doing any sightseeing as we were just overnighting before our ferry to Victoria.

It turned out to be an excellent recommendation as Hurricane Ridge was quite beautiful and well worth the trip. Afterward, dinner at the Downrigger was excellent.

The only even potential negative is that there were no TV's should you require such.

If I were returning, I'd stay here and do more exploring in the area.

We must have liked the Five SeaSuns, because we stayed there twice during one vacation. The first stay was the night before catching the ferry to Victoria, and the second stay was the night after returning from Vancouver Island by ferry.

The rooms are comfortable and nicely appointed. The room we had was on the front of the house. I mention this, because there was a comment in another review about traffic noise. While there was traffic during the day, traffic noise wasn't really noticeable in the evenings.

The home is older and has been carefully restored and maintained. Everything was in good repair and working perfectly. The hosts are terrific and make you feel very comfortable. Breakfast was served in the dining room, and a "pre breakfast" coffee tray was provided at the room door. The breakfast was terrific and had nice touches to the presentation.

The location is great. It is a short drive to the ferry terminal, and close to Olympic National Park attractions like Hurricane Ridge, Crescent Lake, Salt Creek Park, and Dungeness National Park. After leaving, we drove to SEATAC via the long route through Olympia.

Don't hesitate to stay here.

We just finished our fourth stay at this very nice spot and have enjoyed it every time. Jan and Bob are helpful and terrific hosts, serving delicious elegant gourmet candlelit breakfasts in the formal dining room. Coffee and a small sweet are delivered outside bedroom doors before breakfast and homemade cookies await guests at the end of the day. It is a two-story Victorian home; a couple of the rooms are smallish, but all are very clean and comfortable. A downstairs parlor is a comfortable common room. The hosts are collectors and there are lots of decorative items throughout the house. If your taste runs to sleek and uncluttered, it may not suit. We put things away, out of our way, while we're there. Gardens surrounding the house are beautiful (though more bare in mid-winter). Jan and Bob can provide helpful tips on touring the region and will give rides to and from the Victoria ferry, including breakfasts to go, a nice convenience. The house fronts onto Lincoln Avenue, which is another name for the two-lane Highway 101 which runs through town. Though it's certainly not urban traffic, there is noise from cars that can be heard. I'm a light sleeper, though, and didn't find it impossible. It gets quiet as the night progresses. We feel this is a good value for the price, have thoroughly enjoyed staying here, and will return. The breakfasts alone are worth the stay.

Good find. Port Angeles hotels are surprisingly expensive (I guess a summer weekend explains it) and this is good value for the money. They serve some killer chocolate chip cookies. We had the fall room -- it was very clean but just a little cramped. Bed looks to be like a double size. They warned us about this... it was all they had left, so not their fault. The place has an old fashioned, antique feel to it. Wonderful landscaping with rock paths, gardens, and little water falls and the like. Nice hosts. We headed out very early for the ferry -- don't forget ferry reservations!! -- and they had a nice sack lunch prepared for us w/ fresh muffins, juice, etc. Theres not much to dislike about this place. I would recommend one of the larger rooms, but other than that our stay was great. Couple tips -- don't go to a movie at the cinema downtown --awful screen. Also, the italian restaurant downtown (bellas?) was not the greatest.

This is a nice place to stay but is on a busy street that is rather noisy. Had some difficulty with finding parking near property. Exterior of house has pretty landscaping and flowers. Interior is full of antiques and feels almost like a museum. Wasn't sure what to touch and not to touch. Hosts were accomodating and served a nice breakfast. Met some wonderful people that had stayed there several days. One of our first B & B experiences. The room was pleasant and roomy. Bed was comfortable. Early morning tea/coffee (brought to room) and cookies upon arrival were appreciated.

  • Liked — The hosts and the room.
  • Disliked — A little hard to find parking.

Five Seasuns is a lovely Victorian home set in a beautifully kept garden. The hosts are welcoming, and helpful in planning activities in that area.

Our room, the Winter Room, has a fireplace, comfy beds, great quality linens, fluffy towels, and little extra conveniences that make a stay special.

The Breakfast is delicious, served in a formal dining room with Bavarian China and silver service. Also, there are those fabulous chocolate chip cookies and coffee available for afternoon snacks.

A very nice stay with great hosts.
