The zoo was great. Lots of Animals were out and active. Our favorite animal the last time we went was the polar bear. He was out and swimming next to the glass and the kids loved it. They were renovating so park of the park wasn't open, that was a bummer. We were done in a couple of hours but if you haven't been and the entire park is open you could spend a day there.

My biggest pet peeve with zoos is paying a huge admission fee and then visiting the animal enclosures and discovering that all the animals are curled up behind a rock or tree and impossible to see. That didn't happen at the Hogle Zoo. It was fairly easy to see the giraffes, lions, rhinos, elephants, zebras, sea lions, and bears. Even the tiger stayed out and could be viewed easily if you were willing to walk up a small hill. The zoo was very friendly to kids with all kinds of animal sculptures to play on and interactive exhibits and information boards. This zoo is not a mega-zoo like San Diego or Leipzig, but it's a decent zoo that can be easily seen in 1 or 2 hours. I saw vast numbers of children and a fair number of elderly visitors in wheelchairs, so all ages will enjoy visiting.

Even though our kids are all grown up, we still like to go to the zoo! The Hogle Zoo has great exhibits, very clean, plenty of shows to keep the kids entertained, etc. Great place for the entire family!

We visit Hogle Zoo almost every year and have been impressed with all the improvements. First the elephants, then the Rocky Shores (where we have seen the polar bear, seals and sea lions, and bears every time!) and now the African Savannah. The African exhibit is a work in progress this year as they get the animals used to each other, but I suspect it will be great when all is said and done. The bird show was fantastic once again. Loved the new train, and as always, the carousel was a hit with all the kids. Unfortunately we haven't enjoyed the splash pad as last year it was under construction and this year there were storm clouds that caused it to be closed. We also missed the playground that was taken out. But plenty of fun stuff to do anyway.
