The room wasn't very clean, the shower was very dirty, the glass in the shower. The beds were hard and it was very nosiy. Close to the freeway. Very old building. No blow drier.

I chose this hotel to save money. I did just that, but I also missed the ammenities and comforts of the Choice Hotels group. If you want to book this $39 / day bare-bones motel ask first about the mass transit construction at the entrance. It can be a nuisance. I chose it over others because the website advises that they have a pool. However, it was already "closed for the summer" before Labor Day. Other than that, it's a typical economy motel.

Stayed here on the way through Salt Lake City on a cross country trip. I knew enough not to expect anything fancy, just a clean, safe place to sleep, but sadly this was not it. It's just so old, and run down that despite the fact that it looked like they had consistent housekeeping, it's just not enough to fix the fact that this place has seen better days. Sheets didn't fit on the bed and when they came off, revealed a mattress about 30 years old and stained. The surface of the shower was peeling off and the shower head had a hole next to it revealing crumbling drywall. The area that this is located also made me feel unsafe, and the other guests were a bit "shady". Heavy road work is being done directly outside the Motel and made it very difficult to navigate in and out of. The only plus was the extremely nice man who checked us in at the front desk. He probably realizes that customer service is the only thing left going for this place. Motel6 Corporate-please just retire the one.

(I'd give this 2.5 stars if I could, but Trip Advisor doesn't allow that so I rounded up, which is generous of me)

I had a last minute business trip that sent me to Salt Lake City, and everything else was sold out. I was stuck with a smoking room (yuck) at this Motel 6, or nothing at all. I had hoped the smoking room wouldn't be as bad as I thought, but it was exactly as smoky as you'd think. Gross. But again, the entire city was sold out.

North Temple road was completely torn up from lightrail construction, so getting to the downtown/convention center area was slow going along detours, and the area was pretty grim.

The room was relatively clean and the bed was comfortable. There was always plenty of parking and coffee in the lobby starting at 6am. The room could have used a good scrub down (walls and all surfaces), and a new coat of paint, but it was quiet and I slept fine despite the smoky smell. I didn't hear any noise from the construction at all. The maid never remade the bed, just sort of pulled the sheets up and dropped the pillows on it, and never replaced the towels during my 3 night stay nor emptied the trash, which was annoying.

All in all, I wouldn't stay again, especially in a smoking room, whether the city is sold out or not, but it wasn't a terrible stay. Just... budget.

Pros:
it was cheap
front desk person was friendly until something goes wrong

cons:
construction along N Temple makes it hard to get in and out of businesses along that road
a stale smell when I went in the room, even though they just "cleaned" it
shady characters walking around the area
the feeling of not safe
Wi Fi for a fee
needs a serious upgrade

We packed up our things and got a refund and went elsewhere.
I have stayed at many Motel 6s and this is by far one of the worst I have seen, will definitely will NOT return to this location,I was just not comfortable here.

I've stayed in plenty of Motel 6s, and this one (along with one of their Fresno locations) is tied for the worst. My room was very rundown. The toilet seat was dirty. The matress was old and saggy. Also -- at about 3:30 am the night that I stayed there -- some random guy knocked on my door. I'm not sure what he was looking for, but I did not let him in. I genuinely did wake up with plenty of bites in the morning. I'm really hoping it was a busy mosquito or two. Steer clear of this place. The Ogden Motel 6 was much nicer.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 December 2010

My wife and I have stayed in other Motel 6's before, and this one was a bit below par. Because of a lot of construction in the area, access was a bloody nightmare as we ended up on the wrong side of the Interstate near the airport and had to backtrack a long ways just to find the motel. Lack of good signage coming off the Interstate also didn't help. The front desk clerk was about as friendly as the ice-maker. Our room had a bit of a stale, musty odour to it but was otherwise clean and comfortable. I was a little surprised that there was no fridge. The Wi-Fi (fee) worked fine, and despite the close proximity of the Interstate, we actually enjoyed a fairly quiet night's sleep. Overall, this was an adequate place to spend a night, but there are better Motel 6's (and probably better motels, period) in the Salt Lake City area.
