“Enjoyable place for an hour or two”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

I was visiting campus and looking for a place to explore for a few hours and this place did the trick. Beautiful gardens and some great hiking trails to enjoy spectacular views of the Salt Lake Valley. Nice walks along the Red Butte creek. There is a $10 admission fee if you are not a member. $5 would seem appropriate for what it is but still an enjoyable morning of walking and taking in some beautiful flowers and views.

“Very relaxing for a stroll or a motorized guided tour”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

Excellent quiet spot on the edge of the city near the university is well worth a visit if you like a peaceful stroll in the gardens - or a more vigorous walk up onto the nearby hill. There is also a motorized trailer to take you around the gardens for those who can't walk far. Very useful for my aged parents now in their 80's - and useful information for those just walking behind and listening in...

“Serene Escape from the City”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

I have been a member for years and enjoy taking advantage of the many things the Garden has to offer. If you are a music lover, there is no better venue than the Amphitheatre. Nice evenings with beautiful scenery as you sip on your favorite drink and listen to your favorite artist outdoors. But the Garden is much more than that; from nature walks, guided tours, to plant sales and numerous classes, it meets many interests. My favorite class was planting a herb garden. The Garden has year round activities for adults and children and should be experienced each season.

“Extensive, Beautiful Gardens”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

What a find! Lots in bloom in April. I'm sure May will be even better. I'd love to attend a concert at their ampitheatre...the setting is gorgeous and they've got quite a good line up for 2014.
We ended up being there on Arbor day so the place was full of children. But even with all the enthusiastic noise we still found quiet sections to visit. While it's on the side of a hill the uphill walks are gradual and easy. There's a wide variety of garden areas. While the focus is on local plants that you could use in your own gardens, there's plenty of species from around the world.
You can reach the garden by car, bus, or light rail (with a bit of a walk). The Natural History museum is right next door, so this is a good 1/2 day destination.
One last thing. The views from the garden, in certain places, of Salt Lake City, the surrounding valley, mountains, and the Great Salt Lake in the background are spectacular.
