“Great place to learn about our universe”
Reviewed 21 March 2010

This is a wonderful and informative look into our solar system and our universe. They have many exhibits and displays of all the planets and movies that you can watch about planets, the first trip to the moon and many others. They have a great store there with things for all ages. It is a must see!

“be careful”
Reviewed 21 August 2008

Clark Planetarium is a great place to visit for people of all ages. Very new facility that is clean and wonderful displays. I love visiting this planetarium. One piece of advice though. They have a great selection of telescopes but you should NEVER buy one from them. After years of star gazing and using binoculars I decided step it up and purchase a telescope from C.P. I bought an Orion Skyquest 8" dobsonian from them a few months ago. My experience has been a nightmare. Without going into too much detail, whoever puts together the telescopes out of the box has no idea what they are doing. After bringing home the telescope and later purchasing the intelliscope object locator I continually find pieces that were not installed on my telescope. Parts relating to the object locator like magnets and even the the encoder boards I've had to call Orion and special order parts that usually come with the telescope but the staff at C.P. did not install them out of the box. I've called the planetarium a few times and they could not find the missing pieces. Luckily the technical service at Orion is amazing and they have even sent me some things for free. Overall it has been a huge headache. And I've had to unexpected costs due to many missing pieces. If you have owned Orion telescopes before and know what to look for, inspect your purchase with great detail from C.P. Otherwise if you are a first time buyer or have little experience you buy online, preferably from Orion. You will get everything you need and receive better customer service.

“A great family place in a great setting”
Reviewed 19 May 2008

This is one of my very favorite places in Salt Lake City. The Planetarium is in the Gateway Mall, an outdoor mall with lots of interesting stores, live music, and good restaurants. Admission is free, and there are all sorts of physics and other science demonstrations. Kids of all ages can walk on a lunar scape, can be weathermen, and can find out how much they would weigh on different planets. The gift shop is also large and definitely worth a look.

There are several theaters at the planetarium. Some show IMAX movies which are all educational and still very entertaining. Some are also 3-D. Definitely go for a matinee, which is much cheaper. At night, there are laser shows set to music.

There are also star parties several nights a year where everyone can look through powerful telescopes and meet other astronomy enthusiasts.

Don't miss this if you go to Salt Lake City

“A great family outing”
Reviewed 20 March 2008

Our visits to the Clark Planetarium were so enjoyed-we bought a membership! The Planetarium offers great shows on IMAX as well as in the Hansen Dome. Most are appropriate for the very young child while still informative and enthralling for the adult. They also offer late evening music performances----light and star shows. My husband enjoys those.

Not every place is friendly for the entire family, but the Clark Planetarium is.
