“Nice, clean hotel.”
Reviewed 8 January 2013

Hotel was nice and staff was nice. It was quiet. Rooms were clean and comfortable. I would stay here again if I needed to stay around that area. Free breakfast, free parking and free wifi. Rooms included a microwave and a small refrigerator!

Hotel appears nice and is close to downtown and is within walking distance to several places to eat including movie theatre. However first room was too noisy for me being close to kitchen area then they had to move me to a handicap room which was near stairwell and real door. Beds weren't that comfortable, but is okay for a night.

Room Tip: Cheap and manageable but if you want more comfort and amenities then look elsewhere.

Upon arriving at the Hotel I was greated by a girl at the front desk (Cheyenne) who was friendly and inviting. She was quick to check me in and I was grateful for it after the long day of traveling that I had done.

The room, to my pleasant suprise, was a good size and I could see many people being able to stay in it with out a problem. The bed was comfortable and clean and easy to sleep on (which is really nice after you have been on and off planes all day).

The only down side to the hotel was the girl at the front desk in the morning (Natalie). I found her rude and unwilling to help me with finding a resturant for the morning. Her response when I asked was that she did not live in downtown so she didn't know.

Overall the trip was pleasant and the staff was wonderful with one expection. So if you do stay there, just stay clear of Natalie and you will have a great trip.

Great hotel, with staff 2nd to none. Within walking distance to the new City Creek Center & Temple Square. Front desk staff broke out the hot chocolate for us, even though the breakfast center was closed; it was unseasonably cold during our stay, and we were freezing from walking from our evening downtown. Usual wonderful service Marriott is known for; we will definitely stay at this property again.

My husband and I beg to differ on the location of the hotel. He thought it was fine but I thought it was a little too far outside of the City Centre ($10 taxi ride including gratuity). The hotel staff were excellent and more than helpful in giving us directions and places to eat. Our air conditioning unit was a little noisy and we were on the road side and the lights shone through the curtains so our room was a little light for my liking. Breakfast was okay, we are finding that it is typical of the Marriott chain. Highly recommend the red bus as it is a hop on/off system and you can get to all the sights.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not on road side.

This was my first stay at this hotel. It is in a very good location, easy to get to from both the Interstate and the airport. The major problem I had was with the fact that it's shuttle service is what I would call spotty - not available on weekends or during shift changes. I arrived on a Sunday, left on a Saturday, and wanted to go to the Family History Library at 8 a.m. (I checked on two different days to see if they could provide transportation) on the weekday mornings. No shuttle transportation was available at any of these times. By the way, the hotel is about a five minute drive (and a $20 taxi ride) from the airport. The staff is aware of the problem and said they are working to solve it, but they didn't know when that might be. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was a bit small but had two closets and plenty of drawer space for an extended stay. The room was clean and neat. The toilet paper holder in the bathroom, however, was a stretch (literally). It was located on the opposite wall rather that next to the toilet. Finally, the elevator had the aroma of chlorine from the swimming pool. At times the smell was a bit more than subtle. For Salt Lake City visitors: the light rail system - a station is a short walk from this hotel - is a great way to get around downtown Salt Lake City. It is free in the downtown area and provides access to a lot of good dining, the arena, convention center, Temple Square and Family History Library, and Gateway Mall.

We stayed three nights at this hotel. It is about one mile from the Temple Square. The walk is on good sidewalks or you can catch public transportation about two blocks away. The hotel has good food and service. No problems were ovserved during our stay. The staff gave good advice on local restaurants and things to see. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: End rooms are quite nice and roomy.
