We stayed here as part of an AMTRAK Vacation package to Yellowstone Park. The room was large and clean. The TV worked. The bed was OK. The location is convenient to Temple Square and other downtown restaurants. Our package was to get us to West Yellowstone, MT via Salt Lake Express shuttle that left from Salt Lake City. The hotel van picked us up at the Amtrak Depot when we arrived. We registered and had decent night's sleep. The next morning, when it was time to go to the location where the Salt Lake Express shuttle departs, the older man at the front desk refused to have it take us there. He said it was only for the airport. We trudged on snowy sidewalks for about 4 very long blocks to get to the pick-up point. Needless to say, we were very disappointed with the hotel, especially upon learning that the shuttle pick-up point is right on the route to the airport from the hotel. All the other hotel staff were friendly and helpful but the older gentleman attending the front desk that morning ruined it for us. We were later told by other hotel staff that they have used their van to take others to the Salt Lake Express pick-up point.

Thank you for the feedback concerning our shuttle services. On behalf of our Management and Staff, I apologize for any miscommunication on our end regarding the shuttle services. Our complimentary shuttle is available 24 hours per day (subject to availability at the time of request). We stay here whenever we come to town for a Jazz game because it's within walking distance of the arena and they have free parking. Beware of other hotels in the area who charge $12 a day for parking PLUS and unlisted mandatory $15 a day for valet.

This hotel is a bit neglected and stodgy, the windows haven't been washed in a long long time. Our room was adequate and fairly clean for the price we paid. The king size bed was comfortable. We had someone tell us not to park in the covered parking garage but rather park on top because the garage is open to street, dark and unwatched and makes your car an easy target for vandals. Also, do not forget to put your parking pass on your dashboard or Diamond Parking will leave you with a $35.00 ticket, but thankfully the front desk took care of it for us....much appreciated. The restaurant is now a Sushi bar but they do serve up your free breakfast in the mornings and it was pretty good for a Sushi bar.

Room Tip: There's a sky bridge to the roof of the parking garage on the 2nd floor.

Thank you for choosing Shilo Inn for your recent stay! We hope that you enjoyed your visit to Salt Lake City. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed our free parking as well as our convenient location within walking distance of the Energy Solutions Center.

We also appreciate your feedback regarding your overall experience and the condition of our property. We are thrilled to say that our hotel has recently changed ownership and we will be undergoing major renovations beginning this month. We will completely renovate our guest rooms, lobby, public areas and exterior of the property. Upon completion of the renovations, we will officially become a Holiday Inn Express.

Thanks again for your review! We hope you'll give us another chance if you should return to Salt Lake for another Utah Jazz game.
