Owner description: Discover the amazing underwater world of the Texas State Aquarium! Thousands of animals representing over 320 different species are ready to enchant, entertain, and inspire you. Corpus Christi's most popular cultural attraction has welcomed over 12 million visitors since its grand opening in July 1990. Conveniently located on North Beach, the Texas State Aquarium is just minutes from Corpus Christi's downtown district, convention center complex, and museums. The Texas State Aquarium Association is a not-for-profit, educational institution that does not receive any city, state, or federal funding for its operations. Every visit to the Texas State Aquarium is a new and exciting discovery of animals that remind us all of our responsibility to those whose world we share. The Aquarium's Second Chances Wildlife Rehabilitation Program is federally permitted and operates under rigorous standards established by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Each year, thousands of protected, endangered or threatened species along the Texas coast become ill or injured. Most are brought to our facility with problems caused directly or indirectly by humans. The goal of the Texas State Aquarium's Second Chances Program is to rehabilitate, and whenever possible, return the animals to their natural environment. The Aquarium is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The Aquarium's mission is to engage people with animals, inspire appreciation for our seas, and support wildlife conservation.

“Great place to go in Corpus.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 September 2012

I've been going here since it first opened many moons ago and every time there's something fun to look at. I wouldn't go to Corpus just to see it, but if you're here by all means check it out.

“Great vacation destination”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 September 2012

Visited the Texas state as a part of a large group experience. The dolphin show was great and the tour was outstanding. Enjoyed a catered supper and the lights on the Harbor Bridge awed everyone after it got dark.

Very informative, enough to do to keep us entertained for a few hours. Nice gift shop. Kids enjoyed the dolphin show.

“Nice but pricey”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 September 2012

It is a nice clean place to visit, but there is not that much to see. The dolphin show is the best. Do not eat there it is expensice and not very good. There is 4 vloors, with the second a small library and clsss rooms and the 4th only a observartion deck.

Do not park in their parking lot, its $5.00. You can park down the street in a parking lot for $3.00 and $3.50. There is also a closed motel with has meters for $0.25 for 30 minutes. This is what we did and spent only $1.50 and had time left.

They have a great water play land for children.

“Kid Friendly”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 September 2012

This aquarium focuses on local and Gulf of Mexico environments and animals, and has displays that allow children to get as much out of the experience as adults. It isn't one of the nation's finest, but the local emphasis and kid-friendliness make it a winner nevertheless.
