“By far the best beach in this area!”
Reviewed 2 September 2012

Malaquite Beach is smaller than the other "main" beach area, about 4 miles long, but that is part of its charm. Most people go to the main beach that you can drive on so this one tends to be more secluded and quieter. There are some picnic tables and lovely sand dunes, and plenty of photo opportunities! The people who run the small convenience store are nice and helpful and the showers are wonderful after a day at the beach!

“better this time around”
Reviewed 1 September 2012

Came here twice in july. Water was very warm. Third time ending of august was better. Water was cooler and less crowded. Still had some seaweed and actually saw a jelly fish on the shore. Water was a bit choppier. (i am custom to the pacific)....have yet to see south padre island tomorrow...

“Fantastic”
Reviewed 11 August 2012

Absolutely beautiful! We visited two days in a row. Stayed in Aransas Pass so this beach was a little ways away but well worth the drive. A visitors center with showers. Will most definitely visit again when in the area.

“Beautiful beach!”
Reviewed 7 August 2012

We don't usually go to beaches, but had some spare time in Corpus over the weekend. We'd only been to North Beach & Mustang Island there, so after reading the Trip Advisor reviews, we decided to go to Malaquite Beach. What a hidden treasure! Not crowded, just several groups of families and friends enjoying cookouts, picnics, & the clear, gentle waves. Very nice visitors' center. There's also a gift shop, snack bar, and ranger-guided nature walks. I look forward to going back soon!
