My family and I had a room on the 1st floor. Our room was awesome and fit the 6 of us very comfortable. It was very neat, clean, up to date and cutely designed. You could see and go right out to the beach/ocean from our patio door/windows. We were also very near the pool and gas grills. It was more than I expected and will return to this condominium again in the future.

We were able to reserve a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo on ground level facing the gulf. It was wonderful for access to the beach. Our teens could be on the beach and we could see them from the living room window. Our condo was nicely renovated with granite countertops and tile floors through out. We had a marvelous stay. When we tired of the beach, we enjoyed the pool area. The seaweed is on the beach, but it is what makes the island possible, so instead of looking at it from the perspective of a nuisance we changed our attitude and realized without the seaweed there would be no padre island. We would definitely go again.

Room Tip: Ask for ground level facing the gulf if possible. Otherwise, ask for gulf facing.

2nd year back requested room 504 BUT WONT REQUEST THAT AGAIN. Hats off to Kimberly she is what excellent mgt is ALL ABOUT . 1 star for FREE WIFI WAS HORRIBLE, called mgt they didn't know why it was horrible.. Not good. The TOWELS GET A D- it's true there small and feel like SAND PAPER(there was a few days LARGER SOFTER TOWELS WERE OFFERED and like the other reviews said "we all fought to have them" the knives were dull, oven does NOT WORK EFFECTIVELY food burns, this is 2 yrs of staying in that room. There are no scissors, NO HAIRDRYERS...OMG no iron or ironing board. Pillows were horribly flat. TWIN BEDS NEED TO BE REPLACED . King bed was nice. Having full kitchen is nice but we have dollar trees now
Walmart very affordable places that you can shop at to update the kitchen
NO CHEESE GRATER
NO PAN LARGE ENOUGH TO Make spaghetti in or boil spaghetti in
Your goal is if your paying so much is to eat in as much as possible. So a WELL STOCKED KITCHEN WOULD be nicer
Furniture is worn And dated, tv SMALL 37 inch mounted in living room and really outdated in master room, but don't worry the channels they offer you won't want to watch much tv
If you want to sit out on patio in room 504 you'll have to pull chairs from living room
Nothing's on the patio. I hope you are SMALL AND DONT REQUIRE MUCH ROOM IN SHOWER
ITS THE SIZE OF A COAT CLOSET, if you drop your bar of soap good luck bending down to retrieve it.
You do have soap for dishes, tablets for dishwasher, and a coffee pod given each day
I love that they make sure pool area is cleared out by 11 it's ALL QUIET
THE GROUNDS ARE KEPT NICE well lit area , plenty of room in the pool
You can check out towels for pool area BUT BEWARE OF PEOPLE TAKING YOUR TOWELS WE HAD SOME GO MISSING twice while there. We stayed on the north side for 6 nite sand paid $1500 that's quite a bit for a dated room. However when we return IF WE RETURN WE hope kymberly is there to check us in, we called from San Antonio with hopes to get in our room ? We hoped we would not be ignored and WE WERE NOT, again GULFSTREAM KEEP KYMBERLY
TIFFANY WAS GREAT OUR FIRST YEAR. And Dustin was very helpful both years as well
OK TO THE BEACHES... The city ordinance charges $12 for a pass to,drive on to beach cops make sure you have your pass, however if they were as diligent as to CLEAN, CLEAR AWAY SEAWEED AS THEY ARE TO MAKE SURE WERE ALL PAYING $12 then the beaches would look amazing so to the city who without tourist and ALL THE $12 PASSES WOULDNT HAVE THE REVENUE THEY HAVE THEY ARE GIVEN A D- for there not staying on keeping the beaches
CLEAN.. They sure RACK UP $12 dollars by the tons and then don't have time to keep the beaches clean.. Finally they came but only saw the beaches clean last 2 days we were there they spent more time on the public beaches just burying SEAWEED...

I can see why so many condos are for sale in gulfstream the HOA FEES are ASTRONOMICAL
Plus to,own one and pay that and to then see that SOME OWNERS REALLY KEEP THERE CONDO UPDATED AND THEN ROOMS LIKE 504 ARE PASSING BY A THIN THREAD OF BARE BONE NECESSITIES
WE VIEWED ANOTHER ROOM THAT WE WILL MOST DEFINITELY REQUEST IF WE RETURN

GULFSTREAM IS BY FAR THE BEST PLACE ON THE BEACH YOU DO NOT WANT TO EVER STAY AT SUNSPREE EVER, talk about DATED OH MY , YES IT IS....

I'm sad that we did not ask for a more UPDATED ROOM WITH BETTER BEDS

REPAIR WIFI ASAP.... If your a student or business man NEEDING WIFI ACCESS TOO BAD...

My son was desperate to do his college class at gulfstream and wifi FAILED IN HIM BEING ABLE TO DO THIS...

Room Tip: Bring scissors, cheese grater , ice trays, pray for the larger softer towels, larger pans if you wan...

Most return guests love to tell you how long they have been coming to GS. Most have a family history going back from 5-30 years. I'm one of those guys that was 7 years old when my folks bought a condo here back in 1975 and have spent a good chunk of my 40 years since at the GS along with my family. When dad passed, we sold the condo but have come back religiously ever since.

For the longest time, this has been a very accommodating place for people who just wanted a place to enjoy the beach, great pool and excellent location with family & friends. Somewhere you felt comfortable and secure. Unfortunately, the GS (& the condo association) has sold its soul to the city and I'm afraid it will not recover. The beach used to be private and the condo did its own beach maintenance. There was no access for cars. That changed back in the 90's to allow guests to drive on the beach, but the amount of traffic was not noticeable. The locals parked north and it was a huge mess every weekend. Lots of crime and heavy police presence required. Then the Packery Channel came along and the beach became public with the caveat that the city would maintain the beach and provide security.

Back to today... The city maintenance crew was given orders by their supervisor to throw every single person's private property into a dumpster at 6am without any notice whatsoever. From the GS to the Island House, anything on the beach was trashed, literally 10's of thousands of dollars of people's personal property (pop-ups, chairs, ice chests, kid's toys, etc) were thrown in the dumpster. When confronted, the supervisor said this was a policy (not a city ordinance) that was suddenly enforced by the superintendent. No signs, no warning, nothing. After trashing all of this personal property, you would expect an unbelievable beach maintenance job... Wait for it ... No... They decided NOT to scape the beach! What? The GS front desk said they received an email from the same superintendent a week earlier "advising to tell guests not to leave tents, etc on the beach overnight" but it didn't specify what would happen otherwise. So the GS in all their wisdom did NOT advise anyone of the city's email, until after this debacle was over, then they posted an 8x11 laminated warning at the gate to the beach.

Moving on... The rules at the GS are getting out of hand. I get why you shouldn't have glass containers at the pool, but no glass containers anywhere is just stupid. Sitting at the grill, drinking a beer from a bottle should not be an excuse for the jack-boot rent-a-cop to storm over with threats to kick you out if you don't immediately throw that beer away... Oh, BTW, the gas grills are terrible. The poor lady next to me had an inferno cooking hamburgers.

The rooms are definitely going down hill. We were in the double room on the 6th floor and were amazed at the poor condition of the kitchen stove/oven, crappy (dangerously dull) knives, and the lack of basic kitchen tools.

Cleaning service has always been a challenge at the GS, but the quality of the towels is almost laughable. After taking a shower, the towels are brillow-pad-like in how old and rough they are. Every now & then a newer soft towel would show up and everyone would fight for it.

So, for this guy who has a long legacy at this place, I am sad that it has come to this. My family will probably look elsewhere for a place for our reunions. The GS has a lot going for it in terms of location, but the board and management has evidently forgot what it takes to make this a welcoming, comfortable and fun place for families to enjoy.

Gulfstream is a great place to stay if you like to be a few steps from the beach. We have been going to the Gulfstream to kick off our summer vacation with a number of family members for a few years now and always enjoy this home away from home for a few days. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and the condo is quite spacious. Since the kitchen is stocked with pots and pans, stove/oven, microwave, toaster, etc, we stop at the HEB Grocery store just before driving over the bridge to the island and stock up on food so that we don't have to leave the area for meals. You will need to stock up on ice because there are no ice machines at the condo, just two little ice trays in the freezer.
The beach is typical of Gulf beaches. You can expect to see seaweed and jellyfish at times. This time we only encountered some seaweed and no jellyfish, thank goodness. After a day at the beach it's nice to enjoy the pool which was never very crowded. There's even a baby pool that's separated from the large pool. There are grills for grilling outdoors and the cook in our group traded some of his seasoning spices for some fresh caught fish that others were grilling. We have always met friendly people at the Gulfstream and this time didn't disappoint.
Our towels and soap were refreshed daily, and the cleaning staff came in to clean up daily. Bring your own shampoo and blow dryer, though. And bring your own scissors because there weren't any in the condo.
There was a large flat screen tv in a roomy living room and a smaller tv in one of the bedrooms. There was plenty of room for grandparents and parents and two grandkids in the condo with two bedrooms, a pull out bed in the living room, two baths, living and dining room and small kitchen. One bedroom had a queen size bed and one had two single beds which were slightly uncomfortable and it seems they need to be updated. That would be my only complaint. The decor in the condo was colorful and very pleasant.
We have stayed in rooms that face the ocean which are the most expensive ones, This time to save some money we stayed in the partial view room where we could see the dunes and the beach looking south. That was good enough for me, as we were on the beach all day and into the evening.
There is free wifi, be sure to ask for the passcode when you check in. The large flatscreen TV is great. The balcony is large enough for a number of people to enjoy and everyone was happy, from the older folks to the kids.
All in all it's a great place to stay. That's why we come back every year.

Excellent location right on quiet beach. Wish pool was warm enough to swim in, it looked nice. Room 522 had great bay side view. Beware food choices are limited on this end of island on sundays. Very pleasant spacious room but for price I would expect updated linens, poolside/ beach towels and chairs and a little more luxury. Building looks dated.

My family and I stayed in room 516 at the Gulfstream Condominiums from 10/12/13-10/17/13. It was a Ocean Front View. I was very, very pleased with the staff there. They were very accommodating and friendly from arrival to departure. The condo we stayed in was very nice, and appeared to have been just recently updated. The kitchen was pretty much stocked with the normal pans etc. and also included a blender and mixer however they did not have a pair of scissors which wasn't a big deal. The bedrooms were nice and had the normal pillows/blankets provided. The pull out couch wasn't exactly comfortable so if your group is large and would need that option I would suggest an air mattress. Overall the whole condo was nice. The views were amazing from the room, the pool/hot tub area was very nice and the pool was heated. Very kid friendly as well. Overall amazing stay and plan on going back next year!!

Room Tip: If you want a great deal stay in the off season part they have a winter special book 3 nights and st...
