“GREAT ATTRACTION”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

I have been to this zoo many times. Its a great attraction for all ages. I personally prefer to go about 1 hour before closing time, because it's hot!! They do not kick you out, so you can walk around for a few hours without being in the scorching valley heat. The only downside is that by then the only concession stand open is right by the entrance, all the others will be closed. They have a cute butterfly exhibit, (which you have to pay), right next to a little play area for kids. The play area has water sprinklers, so kids will get slightly wet. They also just opened a new aquarium exhibit which is also very nice. If you want to avoid paying for parking, there is a school parking lot right across the street, which is free. This zoo is located across the street from a park, which also has a children's museum. So plan your day accordingly and enjoy several attractions at once.

“Tremendous zoo for kids”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

Not a huge zoo but has an incredible number of animals. This zoo seems to have at least 10 of every animal. Everywhere you look has a number of different animals. Not an inexpensive zoo either.

“Gorillas Galore!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

Very nice zoo and attraction for this area. The main attraction for me was the Gorilla exhibit. The Gorillas are at the entrance and are in an open air exhibit. The zoo has recently been renovating the giraffes' outdoor enclosure and it looks like it will be fabulous when completed. This zoo has been very active in updating the exhibits in the past 3 years I have been here. If you are in the area, I do recommend you visit here as you will not be disappointed.

“Nicest Zoo I have ever been to!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2014

All the animals at the Gladys Porter Zoo look very happy and healthy. None of them are behind bars. All the animals are in beautiful environments that are suited for each species. Very clean Zoo! This is a small Zoo, but very well worth a trip to see. My Sister loves to take pictures and took hundreds the day we visited the Zoo. She got some really great shots. They have large aquariums of large fish (3 to 4 feet long). My favorite was a pool with sting rays that you could reach in and touch. Small entrance fee.

“Gladys porter Zoo, Brownsville, Texas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2014

We have visited many Zoos in the United States and Canada, and I have to say we enjoyed Gladys Porter. We visited in 2013, 2012 while wintering in Texas. It was really very well laid out, animals appeared to be well nourished, and their environmental background was pretty good. We were able to go behind the scenes and visit the rhino, elephant, and giraffe. We had a great day at Gladys Porter, a great place for families while in Brownsville.
