I was so hyped about this beach, we had been to south padre beach and thought the water quantity should be the same, this beach is more secluded, and we can drive on the beach ...what's not to like. Oh how we are wrong. Yes, this beach is very secluded, the drive through he park to get there is long but the drive is nice and pretty to see and enjoy. I love the wild cactuses. When on the beach, my #1 tip is to never never drive on the dry sand in a car. Drive on the wet sand only. There is nothing around you so do come prepared for everything. This is a good spot for fishing, hanging out, relaxing, taking a stroll anything really but swimming. The water is nothing like the water on south padre. The water is murky and brown. It feels as if you are swimming in a bayou. In fact later in the evening as we where swimming the water began to smell like sewage. Our wet cloths that we bagged in a trash bad later to be wash when we got back to our condo, smelled so bad. The smell was like something from a backed up sewage pipe. So my advice would be this is a perfect beach for everything you are looking for in seclusion, just don't swim in the water.
