“A look at real history”
Reviewed 31 January 2014 via mobile

We walked the trails in the Palo Alto Battlefield, and it gave you a real sense of how the actual battle between the U.S. Army, and the Mexican Army unfolded. We were actually walking on trails over fields where many had fought and died.

They had U.S. and Mexican canons set up so you could really sense the type of weaponry. The U.S. had bigger cannons and exploding cannonballs (which the Mexicans did not), so you can guess who won.

Very worthwhile visit.

“Good for history & stretching the legs”
Reviewed 7 January 2014

We enjoyed both the museum about the Mexican-American War and the walking trail out to the battlefield. The museum has lots of bilingual, interactive exhibits about the war and gives a great look into the political and social atmosphere surrounding the war. The trail goes out to the battlefield with spurs out to both the Mexican line & the American line. Being nerdy history buffs, we spent quite a while in the museum and trail, but it can also be a very good quick trip.

“Enjoyed the History”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

We visited the Battlefield during the week, and were the ones there at that time. We watched the little video that told the story of the battle - worth it. Then walked the trails to the Battle site. You can drive a little ways up, but you still have to walk a little to get to the main part of the battlefield. It wasn't a hard walk, pretty level paved paths, well marked with historical markers. Small gift store. We enjoyed our visit, and this Historic Site also has the Passport stamp if you participate in that program.
