“Great Casino and Excellent Buffett”
Reviewed 15 October 2012

I recently went to 3 different casinos in the Albuquerque NM area and this was by far the best of the 3. The other 2 were Hard Rock Casino and Sandia Resort and Casino. I can not say anything of the hotel part of all 3. Did not eat at Sandia. Hard Rock has a seafood buffett on Friday nights that cost $21.00 per person. The eating area was very small at Hard Rock. There was a long wait because of the lack of space because when there are crab legs, it will easily take about an hour per table. The only seafood on the buffett was crab legs, cold shrimp, clam chowder soup and one other cooked fish. The food was good, but very limited on items to choose from. We were kind of disappointed on the food. The casino was crowded and really just your typical casino. Nothing bad nor nothing good to speak of. Beautiful hotel and casino. The slots were not paying off on that Friday night of 10/12/2012. Route 66 Casino has a wonderfully laid out buffett. Food was excellent, service great and very reasonably priced at just under $12 per adult. The Casino was very nice inside with a large variety of slots that were paying very well. Someone always has to lose while a few win. Forget using your GPS to find this place, just go I-40 West to exit 140. It sits on side of expressway. When I get back to Albuquerque again, Route 66 will be my choice to visit.

We had just completed a 500 mile section of our journey to Arizona and stopped here for the night.
Right from the start we were made to feel comfortable and welcome by the desk staff. They were very cordial, polite and helpful. I requested to leave my motorcycle and trailer in valet parking and was accomodated without question and no extra charge.
The room felt very comfortable and roomy. A nice touch was the welcome on the phone and television.
For how busy the hotel was, we found the room quite sound proof.
We received the AAA rate and with no taxes included was a great deal.
We had dinner at Thunder Road where the food was very good and found the prices to be fair. The wait staff were very attentive and accomodating.
I am not much of a gambler but my wife wanted to play Bingo and even here found everyone to be very courteous. No we did not win, just made our donation to the cause.................!!!
The only negative that I could mention would be the smoke. You can smell it everywhere. Seems more people smoke here then not. We had an upper floor so we could escape the odour that way.
I would definitely recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: Select an upper floor to escape the smoke odours.

We like staying at Casino/Hotels because they usually have beautiful rooms at great prices for their "players". We have stayed at this hotel 3 times now, and will definitely stay here again. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom is roomy and bright. We used the coin op laundry services where they have commercial front loader washers. Only $1.00 per load. Great value! Breakfast at their restaurant was very good. Friendly service, reasonably priced.
The casino was fun! Much looser slots than in Wisconsin!
Only 2 issues that were a bit irritating. 1) Smoke- it's everywhere. The vent in the bathroom seems to draw smoke from the casino below. 2) Service at the 50's themed restaurant is very slow. However, the food is excellent, and worth the wait.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms as far away from the casino floor as possible, if smoke is an issue.

When entering, the rush of smoke filling your nose is overwhelming! But the casino had a vegas cube to it and is surprisingly although the rooms are separated from the casino the scent of cigarette is still strong. The best part is the awesome kids area with daycare at a very good price and separate areas for different ages, its is secure and very good atmosphere!

We stayed here july 29th for the Glen Campbell concert. This is a very nice hotel with nice rooms & nice restaurants. The concert venue is laid out very nicely. There isn't a bad seat in the place. The hotel & casino are laid out very well. It is easy to find your way aroiund especially with the carpet that looks like a 2 lane blacktop road. We were impressed & will stay here again when in Albuquerque.
