“A Gem Amongst the Dirt”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2014

Was driving from Tulsa to Tehachapi, CA. Used TripAdvisor to find a place to stay in Albuquerque. This place was rated top-notch, so we phoned and got reservations for the night. I must say that Sandia Peak Inn is one of the best values I've encountered in a long stay. If you need a place for a night and will be close to Albuquerque, stay here! Do NOT go for any of the chain budget motels. This place is: charming, clean, has awesome rooms that have great beds, great showers, microwave, a small fridge, and a small indoor pool. Our room cost (for two) a little over $60.00. GREAT value! As others have noted, it appears to be situated in a less than desirable part of town, but don't let that fool you. We did not hear gunshots nor the constant scream of emergency vehicle sirens one so often associates with "less than desirable" parts of town. Located only a couple of miles of the freeway. If you need a place to stay in Albuquerque that won't break the bank, set your GPS coordinates to 4614 Central Avenue SW and be happy!

Stayed here based on reading a bunch of extremely positive reviews. Since the name is Sandia Peak Inn, I thought it might be close to Sandia Mountains...it is not. It is located in a less-than-appealing neighborhood.
The motel itself is old, but very well maintained. The furnishings are old, but in good condition. Overall, the motel could use a makeover.
The rooms are a pretty good size and clean. There is a small single cup coffee maker, microwave, and mini-fridge in the room, in addition to a dresser and a small table. Free WiFi with decent speed. Plenty of electrical sockets to plug in your devices, which was nice.
Free breakfast in the mornings consists of cereals, fruits, fresh made waffles, bagels, hardboiled eggs, coffee and juices...the usuals.
Staff is super friendly. The owner Ms Kay was very friendly and greets everybody as they enjoy breakfast.

My friends and I stayed here one night on a road trip. We loved it! The staff was super friendly and helpful. The room was clean and perfect for our needs. There were three of us and we fit nicely.

We were all impressed with the super comfy beds and towels. The towels were also extra large, which, when you're a bigger gal, you take notice of.

We didn't have much time to explore Albuquerque and just drove everywhere, so I'm not sure how close it is to main attractions, but it was easy to find.

Didn't use the pool and the breakfast was nice and simple. (No meats, if that is something you really need.)

Price was excellent and would definitely stay here again! Loved it!

If you’re looking for a Motel that has character, this is the place to go! We had a large corner room with a jacuzzi tub and it was close to the pool. The furnishings were dated but that’s what gave it character!

The staff were friendly and obviously invested in their guests. Kay made sure we had what we needed and made us feel like her guests more so than customers.

The Motel is on Route 66 and close to Old Albuquerque.

The first two nights were great and then the room cleanup made a marked decline. Definitely down hill and had to ask for towels a couple of times each day to get fresh ones. And they don't change the sheets. Really enjoyed it on day one and two. Be prepared for the manager to scold you if you made your reservations through Booking.com(more expensive for the innkeeper) rather than calling her directly.

Room Tip: Be prepared to pay more for an upgrade. Our room was in the south east corner, and the neighbor keep...

My wife & I decided that we wanted a quick little weekend getaway. Nothing too fancy or expensive, just a quiet weekend away from home.

We had wanted a first floor room, but they were all booked. We ended up on the 2nd floor, but were thrilled with it. Tucked in the corner, we stayed in a large king suite. It was SUPER quiet... even though we knew that the placed was sold out and packed with families and their kids... it was incredibly quiet in our room. Just what we needed.

The facility itself was incredibly neat and clean. Fastiduiously clean. Not at all what you might expect from a motel on Central Avenue in Albuquerque. The place is like a clean and secure oasis in Albuquerque.

The next morning we went downstairs to the common room for breakfast: waffles, cereal, oatmeal, fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee and juice. Kind of what you'd expect at a motel, but still nice. The hostess insisted on making everyone's waffles. The place had more of a bed & breakfast feel rather than a "you're on your own" motel experience. We were very surprised to find how manyof the guests there that weekend were repeat customers. Several of the couples & families having breakfast with us told us that they won't stay anywhere else in Albuquerque. One gentleman remarked, "Oh yeah, we'll move our trip date if we can't get a room here. We always stay here when we travel from Texas to Arizona."

We're already planning our next "staycation."

Stayed here with my girlfriend one night in March 2014. The room was comfortable and very clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast included the hotel staples of bagels and waffles, as well as fresh fruit. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay. If you are arriving late, be aware that many restaurants in the area close at 9 pm.
