My partner and I like suite hotel rooms when we can afford them, because we have wildly different sleep schedules. We chose this hotel for our recent trip to Albuquerque because it was the least expensive suite hotel near the airport and it is completely nonsmoking. It's quite new and the hallways still smelled like new carpet, but the room didn't.
We were very well treated by the desk staff; they went out of their way to make restaurant suggestions on the night we arrived, and they always greeted us with a smile on our way in and out. Also they made sure we got a cab to the airport (the hotel provides an airport shuttle, but it did not run at 4:30 am).
The rest of the hotel staff were polite and friendly too.
We appreciated that breakfast was included in the price of the room, that breakfast was available for several hours, and that there were some hot, high-protein food options. The food options changed from day to day (eg., cheese omelettes one day, scrambled eggs the next) and the quality varied. If you wanted something that had run out you needed to ask the kitchen staff, but they were accommodating. Mid-week the hotel served an afternoon snack/light dinner. We didn't try that.
The 1 bedroom suite was very clean and the kitchenette was well equipped. In the hotel services binder there was a mini-cookbook that I thought was insanely cute. The recipes ranged from "combine 1 can of beans and 1 can of stewed tomatoes" to some stuff that took a lot of steps.
There was a good-sized LCD HD TV in each room and a pretty large selection of free TV channels.
The tub/shower were reasonably sized. The bathroom fan was noisy. The shower head was out of my reach, which is becoming distressingly common in hotels lately. (Do they think that people under 6 feet don't need to move the shower head?)
Long-stay guests get service once a week. As a short-stay guest you were supposed to be able to get the room serviced every day, but we left the do not disturb magnet on the door most of the time. We were not disturbed, which we appreciated. (In a lot of hotels cleaning staff will try to come in even if they see the sign.) The cleaning staff left printed notes on the door that said "We tried to service your room but we saw the do not disturb magnet so let us know if you need anything."
The bed was very comfortable, but too high. There was an accessible electrical outlet near the bed. There were loads of electrical outlets, actually. Both wired and wireless Internet were free and worked flawlessly.
There was a window in each room and it opened a few inches. One thermostat controlled the temperature of the whole suite. The hotel was seriously overheated—this was February, and if we did not turn on the air conditioning in our room, the temperature of our room crept up to 76 degrees even with the windows open. The hallways were even hotter (a thermometer in the hallway read 79 one day).
The hotel has no room service but has a small convenience store with snacks and frozen dinners, open 24 hours a day. Prices at the convenience store were quite reasonable (e.g., $1 for a 20 oz soda). There is no restaurant within walking distance but there are a number of diner-type restaurants within a short driving distance, at least one of which was open 24 hours.
If we need to stay near the Albuquerque airport again, we will stay at this hotel. It's not really convenient to any place else.
