“Struck "gold" with this treasure hunt!”
Reviewed 16 August 2013

We were at the end of our long driving vacation around NM & made a last minute decision to spend our last night in Albuquerque near Old Town before flying home the next day. It's a good thing we stayed here our last night rather than the first because I never would have been able to get my husband to leave for the rest of the trip!! What a gem! The hotel is situated on a quiet corner across from a park/golf course, but just across the blvd from Old Town. You walk in and feel like you have just step back in time to a historic Santa Fe artist colony. Our "room" was actually a small historic cottage with a full kitchen & private patio. The unit was clean & very comfortable with vintage-looking furniture/antiques/art work. The bed was very comfortable. In fact, art work, flowering plants & water features are everywhere on the grounds. All the cottages face this lush courtyard with the exception of a couple of later addition modern rooms. We were in NM during a heat wave, but we were quite comfortable with just the ceiling fans, & the lushness of the courtyard. The breakfast room in the lobby bldg is light & airy and looks out on the courtyard as well. You can get a made-to-order breakfast which was quite tasty or have the usual continental fare found in other hotels. It was another nice surprise. All the staff was friendly & very helpful. We will definitely stay here and stay much longer when we are in Albuquerque again.
BTW: Don't be turned off by the outer space-looking structure on the entrance which is totally out of character with the rest of the place. It was supposedly added by a "famous architect" so the city will not let the owner remove it as he has requested. What was that architect thinking???

You never really know what you're going to get when you book an older hotel. You know - what's quaint to one person is just old to another!

The Casas de Suenos is an older complex, built around a lovely courtyard with grass, trees, and a gazebo. Reputed to have been an artists' colony at one point, it still showcases interesting SW-style art in the guest rooms and public spaces. Being of a certain age not all its tiles fit perfectly and some of the doors need to pushed a little to close properly, but nothing fit worse than it does at my own house. In fact, our nights at the casa gave the impression of staying at a Mexican's friend's home in Tucson or El Paso...but with a nicer lawn. Having the old plaza only a block away was nice, too.

One thing we loved was the breakfast accommodations. You can serve yourself, continentally, or order from a simple but very flavorful menu. French toast or tortillas, it's up to you, and it all tastes good.

Albuquerque doesn't always get the same good press Santa Fe might, but that's unfortunate. It's got an authentic feel we love. When you're there don't overlook this hotel.

This place is super cool. It was originally an artists' colony. It has charming rooms, green spaces, and off street parking. My room was an efficiency with a full kitchen. It is a very short walk to the shops and restaurants of Old Town and close to the Albuquerque Museum (great art museum.) The staff was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I will use it again as my base in ABQ. Breakfast was really good too.

My husband and I live in edgewood, NM and were looking for a nice get away for our 10th anniversary. I did some looking online and found this cute little B & B. I made reservations without going to look at the rooms. We had decided to check in on Firday afternoon and stay until Sunday. We were looking for some romantic time together away from our 3 kids. It was exactly what we were looking for. We walked through the gates and into a beautiful peaceful garden setting. We were shown to our room by a very nice young woman, and found it to be very quaint. We had a jacuzzi suite that included a very nice jacuzzi with a king size bed and nice living area. There was a leather couch that allowed for snuggling while watching TV and movies. The whole compound felt very private and peaceful. We did not hear or get bothered by anyone the entire weekend. We had two very nice breakfasts in the sun room. The food was great and the service and hospitality could not have been better. We found several nice places to eat outside of the compound and had an amazing time at the botanical gardens and aquarium. The room was clean and nicely decorated. Everything was just so relaxing and comfortable. We have recommended to my parents, my in-laws as well as brothers and sisters, that this would make a great place to celebrate an anniversary or just to escape to for a day or two. We highly recommend this place and thouroughly enjoyed our entire stay!

Room Tip: We had a jacuzzi suite, but next time will try to get a casita with a private garden. We saw a few w...

Just stayed two days at the Casa and it was great. The bed and breakfast reminded of the of motor inns where you had a court yard inside and parking was on the outside. We stayed in the Ivy room which had a very confortable king bed, kitchenette and nice living room. A little smaller than I thought, but it worked out very well. They serve a breakfast each moring and you have choice from several kinds of hot and fresh made breakfast. You are in short walking distance from Old Town and only 15 min from the sky lift. The only thing on the down side was that it was hot that week and during the day the swamp cooing system had a hard time keeping the room cool. 'Great stay, do recommend.

Our daughter's wedding and reception was held here and I was expecting to just be on our own when it came to the big day. The owner's helped every step of the way, which kept my nerves calm. The garden area is so beautiful that words can not even begin to give justice to. Every convenience has been thought of and when a problem presented itself, the very capable and experienced owner's had a solution. As for the customer service, we were treated like family. In a time when customer service seems to be a thing of the past it is something that is very important to me. I was never at any point disappointed. I will recommend Casas de Suenos to anyone that is looking for a weekend get away or wanting some place to host an event.

Our second stay here, because we remembered it as so quaint and delightful from a few years ago. Very rustic outside, but rooms beautifully done. Some have hand painted murals by famous artists. Ours had a hot tub inside, a fireplace and a livingroom area. Walking distance from the Historic District and Aquarium, which we loved. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful breakfast in a beautiful glassed-in sunroom included and not to be missed. Very peaceful.
