“Beautiful Hotel”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

When I researched hotels in Albuquerque the parc central stood apart and it did not disappoint. Other boutique hotels could take some lessons from this classy establishment. We drove with our 2 daughters from Toronto to the Grand Canyon and chose to stay here on our 4th night. The location is right off the highway in a nice section of town. Nob hill was a 5 minute drive and it was fun to explore. This hotel is incredibly unique in that it is a renovated former hospital. You could definitely imagine the building for that use. It was spotless and decorated beautifully with great attention to detail. The staff were lovely and the apothecary lounge on the 4th floor was awesome! We had a double room which was quite tiny but sufficient for one night. They did what they could to maximize the space. The ironing board was under the bed! And there were no dust bunnies! There was no coffee maker but coffee was set out in the am on each floor. And there was a washer and dryer on each floor! Very unusual for this class of hotel. The breakfast room was bright and large and the offering was perfect. We re-arranged our return trip to stay at parc central the following week. We loved the city and hope to return.

First of all, the good. This property is beautiful and quite comfortable. The staff were excellent. The rooftop lounge was quirky and fun. The rooms are lovely, and ours was a suite that was comfortable in spite of being tightly packed with furniture. Now, the bad. It lacks amenities - no swimming pool, and virtually no exercise facilities (a small space in the basement is not much better than just exercising in your room). The breakfast selection looks really good, but tastes less than average. It was all bland and pre-made. Various sweet rolls and breads, fruit, yogurt, and the same two quiches every day. If you stay more than one night, you will want to go somewhere else for breakfast, and for the price, that is disappointing. It was the worst thing about our stay. There is only one small elevator, and in the evening, it is shared with the public going up and down to the lounge. This is also true for parking. If you come in at night, you may have trouble parking if the lounge crowd is already there. The location is right next to the freeway in an older part of town, which did not bother us at all, but might others.

Parq Central Hotel is always perfect. The staff is professional and attentive. The rooms are extremely comfortable and modern while also paying respect to the history of buildings past. Additionally there are pet friendly rooms which is a great bonus. The property grounds are a lush oasis in the downtown of Albuquerque. The rooftop lounge is a wonderful setting to relax and enjoy the city views.

The Parq Central has for a few years been our favorite hotel when we travel to Albuquerque. Generally the accommodations are first rate with interesting design features and very comfortable rooms. But this time we had a room where the air conditioning clearly would not operate, which was problematic with daytime temperatures around 95 degrees. When we told the desk about the problem, they said that they would fix it, but never even came up to our room to look at the problem. Then the next morning we told the manager about the oversight and he too simply ignored our complaints. Too bad, because we always look forward to staying at the Parq during our frequent trips to Albuquerque. Come on, Parq Central, you need to be more responsive to your customers!

Dear Bill-Jenny2004,
We are so sad such loyal guests had a disappointing experience here at Hotel Parq Central. Please know that we do have a state of the art heating and cooling system and it is incredibly frustrating that we were unable to facilitate the optimal temperature for your visit. Please know this type of situation is rare and should you ever choose to stay with us again we will do our very best to see that every aspect of your stay is entirely perfect. Furthermore, we will see to it that any issues that may arrive are in the future address in a more concise manner. Stayed a second time here on my last night in New Mexico, before flying out in the early morning. Very convenient to the airport and easy to drive to restaurants in Nob Hill neighborhood. Staff very helpful. The hotel is very nicely furnished, beautiful modern bathrooms and comfortable beds. Rooms are somewhat small, but adequate, giving it a boutique feeling. Rooftop view of the sunset is amazing. One criticism is of the breakfast options, somewhat generic, although they packed us takeout bags since we were leaving so early. Since it's right off of I-25, lots of highway noise in the very pretty back garden, but the rooms are very well soundproofed.

Room Tip: Stayed in main building first time and in the "doctors building" the second time. Rooms ar...

An excellent hotel well located just off I25 so getting about the city is very easy. Also close to Downtown and the Old Town. Staff are very helpful. On checking in asked reception for a good Thai restaurant. Receptionist recommended one then later brought to our room a print out from Trip Advisor with details of all the Thai restaurants. Hotel has a shuttle and they were very happy to drop use into the Old Town and pick us up again when we called. Nice areas to sit outside and and lovely roof terrace bar. Continental breakfast was first class with lovely pastries and a nice change to the standard bacon and scrambled egg in other hotels. Rooms are very nice but slightly small. Would definitely stay there again. PS never used the pool so ignore rating as I cannot reset it

Room Tip: TomTom has position slightly wrong on Central Avenue. On leaving I25 told us the turn left I when it...

Dear John C_60,

It would be an absolute pleasure to host you again! Thank you tremendously for the kind words about our hotel and staff. Keep in mind for your next stay that we have a variety of room types to accommodate a need for perhaps a bit more space. My personal favorite is the Executive which has the most beautiful natural light which creates an especially bright and cheery atmosphere throughout the room. We look forward to seeing you again and all the best. –Matthew Troche
