“Beauty abounds”
Reviewed 1 October 2013

I was thrilled with our stay at Los Poblanos. I love their attention to detail: down comforters on the beds, lavender bath products, fluffy towels and robes suitable for wearing to the pool. I appreciated that the pool was not in anyone's view unless you were "at" the pool, which was very inviting. The complementary breakfast was delicious, and again attention to detail made it very special. Throughout our stay I felt very well cared for by the staff, who are warm and helpful, and give very good orientations to the property. Having the farm there was a wonderful complement, and when I saw the chickens, I knew there would be fresh eggs for breakfast. Los Poblanos is not just a place to spend the night, it is a wonderful experience. Be sure to arrive early, and stay as long as you can!

Largely because of prior TripAdvisor reviews we decided to branch out a bit from our usual pedestrian lodging choices and stay at Los Poblanos during a trip to the Southwest. Good call. For us, it wasn't just a place to sleep for the night - it was an experience, and one we'll long remember fondly.

We stayed in the Simms Room, which is part of the original ranch house (as opposed to one of the separate and newer buildings on the property). It's old (as we knew) but fairly well maintained. The bedding on the four-poster king bed was worn and lightly stained in a few places. It wasn't dirty but it wasn't immaculate. It was really the only not-great element of the stay. We chalked it up to the ethos of the place (organic and "green"), which we guessed probably had an effect on how and in what things were laundered. The room was spacious and had a fireplace. The kids enjoyed falling asleep to the crackling of a peaceful bedtime fire.

Shortly after we checked in, we walked around the ample grounds. There were a couple of roaming peacocks (or perhaps a peacock and a peahen) - which transfixed our kids - as well as a grumpy goose and some other wildlife. We grabbed some bikes that the inn makes available for guests and rode around the property, which was a very nice way to take everything in and work up some hunger for dinner. For a place on the edge of a big city, it's very quiet and serene.

In the morning, we got up early and, because we had signed up for the "Little Farmers" package, the kids got to bottle-feed some young goats and sheep and gather some eggs that were sent to the kitchen and became part of our breakfast (a neat touch). The married couple who run the farm portion of the operation were a pleasure to talk with and even let the kids hold a baby goat that was only several days old. Our kids are pretty thoroughly suburban types so they were very engaged and found the farm visit a great and memorable experience.

After visiting the farm, we walked back over to the inn for the breakfast included with the stay. We all loved the fresh organic fruit. The other organic food freshly prepared that morning was a little fancy for the wife and kids, but though my tastes aren't much different it was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. I had a breakfast tostada which looked strange but tasted great. The organic coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice and homemade granola rounded things out perfectly. And sitting outside and seeing the sun just up over the Sandia mountains was wonderful.

If you're just looking for a place to lay your head, this probably isn't your best bet. And if you're dependent upon a high level or frequency of service, you should bear in mind that there is apparently no one on the grounds to attend to you after 6:00 p.m. or so (though there is a telephone number you can call in a pinch). But if you're looking for something out of the ordinary and can fend for yourself during the evening and overnight hours, you'll be hard-pressed to do better than this place. Los Poblanos was a highlight of our trip and we would love to stay there again if we're ever back in the Albuquerque area.

My wife and I spent the first night if our honeymoon here and have been back on multiple occasions. Los Poblanos combines luxury, farm simplicity, and quintessential New Mexico along with good food and beautiful gardens. We love it here and find it a peaceful retreat when our lives are hectic and busy. We particularly lime the farm rooms. Great place nice staff. If you are checking in late you need to let them know ahead.

Room Tip: Oder the cheese plate ahead of arrival, it is always good. Fires places in the room in the winter a...

We have stayed at many places in Albuquerque on the way to or from visiting family in Roswell, and having stayed at Los Poblanos, we will never stay anywhere else. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we added an extra night to our stay.

The property is beautiful, with historic buildings, gorgeous gardens, the farm with its animals and farm store, and a pool for relaxing. We especially liked seeing the resident peacocks patrolling the grounds. The food was delicious. Breakfast was excellent, and we had the chance to eat dinner one night as well. It was wonderful sitting out on the patio and watching the light change on Sandia Peak as the sun set.

Our room (Meem 2) was perfect, with a comfortable bed, roomy sitting area with fridge and microwave, large bathroom and a back door to a patio that looked over the grounds. All the rooms looked wonderful, but this was perfect for us for the 5 nights we were there. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: All the rooms look beautiful, but for more room and more privacy you should probably choose a room o...

Los Poblanos is one of those rare getaway spots that exceeds expectations. It is located on an isolated, beautiful site yet only a short drive to Albuquerque museums. The dinner was one of the best we have experienced in many years. For breakfast, the chef cooked a BLT / poached egg plate with green chili aioli (yum). The room was simple but very, very comfortable with a quiet, effective air conditioning system. It is fun to stroll the grounds of a working farm and visit their comprehensive farm store.

Los Poblanos is a lovely blend of the picturesque and simple elegance. Everywhere you look you see attention to detail- it is never overdone though. The food is mostly local and all creative and delicious. The rooms are simple but lovely and the facilities for the wedding were gracious. Staff all friendly and attentive. Love the combination of history and current farming.

My husband and I attended a group function here for about 25 people. We were put in a small room with mediocre air conditioning and lousy ventilation: kind of an issue in August. The food is perfection: home grown food and lovingly prepared. The service was good; not great.
