“A wonderful retreat for everyone!”
Reviewed 3 April 2007

I stayed at Los Poblanos in the La Quinta guesthouse with my family. The inn combines the perfect quantities of peace and tranquility on a beautiful historic property. I highly reccommned Los Poblanos to all travelers coming to Albuquerque. It's located near several attractions and the staff are more than professional, helpful and welcoming.

Beware of staying here in winter!! I'm sure this place is wonderful in summer when using the radiator isn't necessary. But we were kept awake all night long with the pounding sounds of the radiator which never let up (about every 30 seconds) even when it wasn't running. (The inn provided ear plugs but even these couldn't completely block out the hammering sounds the radiator put out. I first thought the noise was someone firing a gun nearby!) When I complained the staff already knew the radiators do that and explained that the sound generally goes away after awhile-no such luck I told them, but they didn't care. (we had the temp. set to 67 degrees) My parents' room had different troubles-the thermostat (placed right next to the bed) made loud hissing sounds when turned above 60 degrees, so they opted for a cold night. Also my parents both said the water temp. in the shower got so hot instantly they both got burned/froze several times during the short showers. When you pay $200/room per night, you expect to get a good night sleep and pretty even water temp. But we were weary and tired until we checked out and into a different and much cheaper hotel. Otherwise the breakfast was pretty good-pancakes and fruit, good coffee. The farm is neat, and my kids got to feed the peacocks and pet the donkeys. The architecture is beautiful and I'm a fan of bed and breakfasts and know this wasn't one of the better ones I've stayed at, but this was my parents first time at a B&B and they don't think they will try one again. (we stayed in the Armijo room and the Field Suite)

We are happy to announce that we have completed renovation in all our guest rooms and suites. The rooms at the historic Inn now feature new heating and cooling systems that are effective and efficient. We have done away with the radiators, as we realized that even though the radiators worked well, they had many quirks that were a challenge to manage. We feel that this was an important upgrade for all the guest rooms. We look forward to many cool summers and warm winters at the Inn! Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions or concerns.

Outside of downtown Albuquerque and down an avenue of old Cottonwoods is this charming hacienda/organic farm/lavender farm. From the check in to our departure everyone and every thing was welcoming and comfortable. The serene middle courtyard with tiled fountain is peaceful and lovely- all rooms open to this.
We were given access to kitchen with an opened bottle of wine and snacks on the counter, the library with DVDs and books, and encouraged to wander the grounds of the farm and gardens.
The bed was wonderfully comfortable, original artwork in the rooms, and every need thought of- including earplugs in case the peacocks roaming the grounds are disruptive. (Never heard them).
We slept like babies and there are a good selection of restaurants i the area as well as suggestions for local activities.
Breakfast was eggs and bacon and rather dry scones- this was probably the only thing I would improve here - although perhaps some days the breakfast is more creative?
The room rate was definately a good value!

Los Poblanos is an idyllic oasis in the center of Albuquerque. It was remarkable that, while only 5 minutes from any metropolitan destination in the city, we were swept back in time by this “gentleman’s farm”. The property, with its attentive and informed yet unassuming staff, provides an inspiring setting. You may wander its grounds freely and enjoy your privacy, learn about organic farming, tantalize your senses in the lavender fields, or partake in a private tour highlighting the architectural and historical significance of this John Gaw Meem property.

Los Poblanos has the feel and romance of a top notch Spanish Parador. The accommodations are immaculate, but still retain authenticity. It is truly unique to experience a terrific night’s rest followed by an authentic home cooked New Mexican breakfast.

The Inn’s owners, the Rembe family, and their staff truly made us feel welcome and as though we were “at home” in their beautiful setting.

We've stayed at Los Poblanos twice, in January 2005 and before that in January 2004, and loved it both times. The hospitality of Penny and Armin Rembe and their son Matthew and the Los Poblanos staff is excellent. We've loved both rooms we had with corner fireplaces ready for us to light, plus the lovely library, the handsome living room, and the courtyard with the candles flickering in the evening. Breakfasts in the dining room or the bright and cheerful breakfast room have always been fun, with southwestern foods we don't often get to enjoy on the east coast. We can't wait to return in a warmer season though we still enjoyed walking through the historic gardens and smelling the fabulous lavender plants. The lavender soap we brought home with us reminds us of our wonderful stay.

Small, mellow and such a sweet place! Everyone was so helpful, and the room was LOVELY. Just lovely. Most comfortable beds, right off of a courtyard, where peacocks roamed the grounds and the smell of lilac wafted through the air. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. It's off the beaten path and still close enough to stuff you'll like the feeling of the retreat. Very private.
