Description: The Artichoke Cafe was reopened in 1989 by Pat and Terry Keene. Pat, who was formally trained in New York City, is executive chef and Terry has 30 years experience in restaurant management. Their dedication to the best in food, wine, and service has made this 120 seat restaurant one of Albuquerque's finest dining spots. Its downtown location on Route 66 in the Historic Huning Highland/EDO District, cozy modern decor and rotating art exhibits add panache and charm to its ambience. The food is a mix of French, Italian, and creative American, using only the finest ingredients.

Went there for a business dinner and found it to be a nice place. I requested the special of the night with the matched wine along with a starter artichoke. The wine was great however the artichoke was as hard a leather, a second time around didn't help. They replaced it with a Blue cheese and apple salad that was great at no charge. When the meal came it looked overwhelmed with sauce, the veggies were tasteless and the salmon was poorly cooked. I ate most of my meal but left the rest total unsatisfied. When it was time for desert I was done. Checked in at the hotel and found myself mindlessly looking into the vending machine, sad. The service was friendly but slow, they really tried hard to make it right but you can't over service bad food. I won't be back, for the price it should be perfect.

Although it has "Cafe" in its title, this is really a delicious "restaurant" with a delicious twist on great classics! The signature artichoke is served with three delicious sauces: a raspberry, an aioli, and a classic butter! Both the ravioli and the pasta were fresh, delicate and plentiful...
Delicious NM beer on tap.
Professional and courteous service.

A lovely little place across the street from the original Albuquerque High School, which has since been turned into loft living and condos!
This restaurant is a 'white table cloth" establishment that takes pride in classic service and it's not far from downtown Albuquerque!

We had family visitors last week and enjoyed both lunch and dinner at the Artichoke Cafe; the food was delicious, and our guests left New Mexico very happy with their dining experiences. For lunch, we each had a different salad and agreed they were all great.....service was excellent as well. When we went back for dinner a few days later, one of us had the calamari as a main course, two of us had the porcini and goat cheese pasta and our fourth family member chose to have the scallops; we were all very pleased......dessert was delicious with all of us sampling the decadent flourless chocolate cake and the semifreddo. You don't often see semifreddo on the menus of our local restaurants, so whenever I see it, I order it! Make the Artichoke Cafe a "must" while in the Albuquerque area; you won't be sorry! BTW, it's not far from the airport so a perfect place to stop when picking up or dropping off guests.
