“Surprising and basic”
Reviewed 22 June 2014 via mobile

If you like eating with your hands at a plastic covered table, love seafood (except fish), and can handle a pound of scallops.crab claws, craw dads, lobster, crab legs, etc., then this is an unusual but pleasant place. It is small and rustic and prices are in the teens to $30 range/lb. Service was above average and the wait...for 2 of us...was minimal. They have no sampler platters, so the best way to go is with 4 or more people and have each order a different item so all can sample a variety. Our tab, including 3 sides, scallops, drinks, crab claws was $63. No alcohol. No salads, which seem like easy-enough items to offer. We will go back.

“Freshest and best Seafood”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Enjoy the crab (all priced by the pound). Prices vary by entree and season. You go for the food not the atmosphere. Messy at it's best. There is no bar if that a concern. My wife and friends love it! Wear clothes to get "down and dirty" and use the lobster bib that is provided. They do have take out and this is a fine option. It's not a big place so get there early or be prepared to wait.

“DEFINATELY DIFFERENT”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

Went here last weekend for my hubbys birthday, little disappointed that they didn't have some type of combination boil. It was just the 2 of us and we're not huge eaters so the menu was not really condusive for us, a whole pound of just 1 item did not work for us. This would be a great place to go with 6-8 people, everyone get something different and share for a variety. Hopefully once they get established they will create something that gives people like us some variety. My husband got the crab legs and I went for the lobster, we both added corn and potatoes. Gotta say it was just a TADDDDDDD overcooked, meat did not pull away from the shell as it should. It was however extremely tasty. This place has a lot of potential, definately recommend giving them a try. Oh yeah, the reviews aren't kidding when they say its messy.

“Had never tried eating like this....”
Reviewed 4 March 2014

I can truely say that I have never eaten out of a plastic bag before eating at Down n Dirty but believe me it works. The place is small and kinda hidden right across from Smith's on 4th St, just south of the bowling alley. Restaurant is small so expect a little difficulty if you are with a large group. Parties of 2 or 4 will seldom have to wait though, Facility is clean and servers are friendly. Menu items are by the pound so you might want to share a meal. Tried the scallops with potatoes, corn and sausage in a great buttery sauce. It was sooo good, Be prepared to get your fingers dirty and wear the provided bib if you've got on a nice shirt as the shrimp, crawfish and other seafood needs to be peeled (by you). Note: They do not serve any alcoholic beverages, but with food this tasty, who needs them. Sorry: No reservations unless it's a large group.
