“Agreable service and delicious food”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

New Mexican food is a surprising and tasty variation on the theme offered in the restaurant. Everything was "home-made" and rich tasting. Dion was most pleasant and helpful and lent a sense of welcome and efficiency to the overall experience.
The hotel staff is friendly and efficient and the rooms spacious and well appointed.
In short a good value and a pleasant stay.

Nothing wrong with our stay. We just expected a bit more from a Best Western PLUS. My fiancé and I always stay in a larger suite, one with a sitting area or separate living area/fridge, etc. being that we are Platinum rewards members and have been lodging at BW hotels for years. Booked room thru the BW 1-800 number, like always and reserved a suite. At check in we were told that we were checking into an Executive King Room, which The desk agent said was one of their "larger suites". Unfortunately, to our surprise, the room was as standard as they come. Just a regular single king standard room. We are not the type to complain or bother staff for minor issues during our stay. We are very laid back people and having worked in customer service for a long period of my own life, I try to give employees the benefit of the doubt and not make a fuss. So we just stayed in the room and had a comfortable nights rest. Honestly, I would have preferred a more spacious room, but we were there to sleep. No big deal. The room did seem to be pretty outdated though. I would like to mention some of the great perks the hotel does offer. For example, the wifi worked magnificently. Never once had any connection issues or log-in problems and was able to stay connected the whole visit with fast loading, compared to other hotels we've visited in the past who had terrible wifi connection. Also the rooms offer an incredible amount of tv channels. About 5 hbo channels or more, with a great selection of choices any hour of the day or night, including a ton ( and I mean... a ton) of other great channels too. This hotel had the best tv channel selections out of all other hotels ever stayed in combined!!!! By far!!! So kudos on that, management. The bed was super comfy and we got a great nights rest after a long, busy weekend. Out of the three best westerns in the city of abq, I honestly would not say this was our favorite, but it was a nice night. The staff during our late check-in, ( Tony, I think it was) was very friendly, professional, and helpful informing us of their amenities and breakfast. Although it's not a free breakfast like most other best westerns, we actually didn't have time to eat there anyway. Overall, for the price and location, being within walking distance to Old Town, ABQ... I would recommend this hotel as a comfortable, affordable stay. Good deal for tourists and families traveling on the road, being right off the interstate. I would like to thank the hotel management for their skills on providing great customer service and enjoyable amenities.

Thank you for taking the time and writing such a thorough review. It sounds like you were happy with the location, amenities and service of our hotel. It sounds like the only confusion was that we are not a suite hotel. We have 173 standard rooms that may differ in amenities or accessibility but that are all basically the same size. I am sorry for the confusion and will speak with the person who checked you in.

Good hotel - room nice - clean and no smells, good amenities too. the elevators in the hotel though- they were horrible, you never felt safe in them nor knew what floor they were going to stop on, Food was good also.

Thank you for the review. I am glad that you liked the hotel and all of its amenities. I am sorry that the elevators left a bad taste in your mouth. We are aware that we had issues with the West elevator and had it serviced by an outside company over the weekend and as soon as it was brought to our attention.

I just stayed there here one day but the BW Rio Grande makes you feel very much at home with its color scheme, wood furniture, southwest indian decor, suitably spacious rooms and all the conveniences you might need. You get a discount on breakfast and a nice tv with all the channels you could want. Of course, there is wifi and located on the edge of Old Town Albuquerque. I would definitely stay here again. As I had an adjoining room, I heard a little too much of the TV from the other room...But perhaps that was the luck of the draw.

Thank you for the review and for staying with us. It sounds like the location, décor and breakfast were all positive reflections of our hotel. We do have quite a few adjoining rooms and during high occupancy periods they are occupied by guests who do not require that amenity. We are glad to see that the noise did not sour your opinion of our hotel or our service.

Far more than we expected in this hotel. While bldg. is older, inside and out are remodeled and more than nice ! Clean, quiet, cooked to order breakfast was excellent. Easy to get on and off freeway, Definitely will stay here again when we are in this area.

Stayed here for 2 nights while on our way to Santa Fe. Staff was great, excellent included breakfast, great location. My only comment concerns the softness of the bed. I had a really soft bed and it was too soft. I didn't complain and it was my fault for not asking to check out another room. Be sure and check the bed when you checkin. Otherwise everything was outstanding and I would highly recommend this BW.

Thank you for the review and for staying with us. I am glad that you liked the hotel enough to rate it so highly. I am concerned that your bed was too soft. I don't believe I can determine your guest profile from your user ID on this website. I would love to know what room you were in so we could check the bedding. Please reach out to us if you are able.

We spent 2 nights here and it was wonderful. Room was very clean, comfortable and quite. The had excellent breakfast meals in the restaurant. We had the same host both days a fine man named Juan. His only concern was our comfort. He was very good treated us like we were his family.

Our entire stay was excellent except we returned late one night and the wife ordered a side salad. Lets say we were not happy with it. A quarter head of lettuce, 2 onion rings, sour tomato, blue cheese chips, crutons and bacon strip. I have never ordered a salad that was not mixed or cut to size. No tools were sent to prepare on your own. It looked like a salid kit.

We liked the location, spent time in Old town, cruised route 66 entire lenght, Nature area near by had alot of wildlife.

We plan on returning here again and would stay here again.

Thank you for the review and for staying with us. I am glad that you liked our hotel and will be returning to stay with us in the future. Judging from the photo, it appears that you ordered a Wedge Salad to go. I am assuming since the order was to go that the server provided you with all the components so that you could mix them together when you got to your destination. That may be something we need to reconsider but the "wedge" cut of lettuce for a Wedge Salad is very common and is why the salad is named what it is.
