“Nice Place to see Bad place to sleep”
Reviewed 23 April 2012

Not a lot to look at from the outside, but nice lobby and friendly staff. Resturant has good food for the price, great waiters. how ever room 901 had a great veiw from the balcony, but tv's are not flat screen and using the coffee maker is quite a problem plugging in to a power strip. The beds were very uncomfortable, it was the first time in my life when I got out of bed with a sever back ache. My wife also said she did not sleep well in the other bed.

Room Tip: Check out room first and bed.

My wife and I stayed here for a wedding and it was a great experience. The rooms were nice, comfortable and clean. The grounds and the common areas were excellent, great setting for a wedding and we had a great time. Old Town shopping area was within walking distance and is very nice to visit.
Overall this is a great place to stay in Albuquerque.

In 2006, we (both of us are university professors) attended a history conference sited at the Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town, as part of a commemoration of Albuquerque's 300th year as a city. Last weekend, in April 2006, we took part in another history conference sponsored by the same association and once again held at the Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town. On both occasions the history conference was a first-rate event. However, what a difference six years meant to the appearance, facilities, services, and staff of the hotel. Based on our 2006 stay, we dreaded returning to the Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town in 2012. So we were pleasantly surprised, to say the least, to find that the hotel, under the new management of Heritage Hotels & Resorts, Inc., had refurbished and/or upgraded every aspect of the hotel. It now looked and felt like an upscale and cosmopolitan hostelry. Its staff was in every way professional and congenial. The meeting rooms and those areas comprising the hotel's public core were uniformly sparkling clean and tastefully furnished. Our very affordable minisuite room on the hotel's tenth floor offered not only a striking panoramic view of the Albuquerque area, but also featured an accommodating layout and design, a remarkably comfortable king-size bed, and ample and diverse "living" spaces. It was an ideal room in which to read, work, relax, and dine (indeed, the two room-service meals we ordered were delivered promptly and greatly pleased both the palate and the pocketbook). We certainly look forward to a return visit to the Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town.

Our management team truly supports New Mexico culture, so when it came to refurbishing the Hotel Albuquerque, the design team sought to create the most serene place that would embrace the Native American and Hispanic history and tradition. We are so glad you returned to see a better hotel. We will continue to make improvements and appreciate feedback from our guests.
Thank you for staying with us, we look forward to your next visit.

I found the staff at Hotel Albuquerque to be the most accomodating and friendly of any hotel I've ever patronized. They went beyond my request for service, always with a friendly smile. The room was good value. A. KOhn

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the mountains.

Not only is the Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town a beautiful hotel, but there is a hidden treasure in the Casa Esencia venue. We recently held a fundraiser event at the Casa Esencia venue, and it was amazing. It was classy, elegant and a part of history that you would never imagine from the outside. Not only did the venue make you feel like you were taken to a different part of the world but the customer service was amazing. The entire team supporting the event was a class act! In particular both Geralds worked around all customer needs and the event was extremly successful!! If I ever renew my wedding vows, Casa Esencia would be the perfect place. Special thanks to Adrian, the Geralds and the entire Casa Esencia team!

Casa Esencia is an extraordinaire part of Hotel Albuquerque and one of New Mexico's historic venues. We hope all our guests have an opportunity to experience Casa Esencia. With its lavish furniture and elegantly custom designed rooms, it redefines entertaining and is much different than a ballroom setting. Our specially trained staff caters to this venue with the utmost care and level of service. Thanks for your recognition of the special events team.

This hotel is perfect for people like us - first-timers to New Mexico, flying into Albuquerque and heading out and about to explore New Mexico. After 7 hours of air travel to Albuquerque, we didn't want to start driving until the following day. We also wanted our first taste of New Mexico and so we didn't want to stay in a "usual" hotel or motel. Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town was perfect! Beautiful southwest ambience, very helpful staff, and the Old Town location couldn't be better - great shopping and eating.

As an extra bonus (that was probably more coincidence than anything), when I asked about a place to exercise, the front desk person told me about Hot Yoga, which is across town. It's fantastic, although it's a solid 15 minute drive across Albuquerque at 6:00am. (They do classes throughout the day, but I don't know how long the drive would take at those times.) Also, I had forgotten that Albuquerque is 5,000 ft above sea level, and doing hot yoga 8 hours after traveling from 600 ft above sea level definitely left me feeling....different...but in a good way. Also, I knew when to ease up on myself during the class, I'd likely have passed out otherwise...

Thank you for a perfect review. We are honored that you chose to stay with us on your first trip to New Mexico. Old Town is definately the place to be for a first time experience. We share the tradition of Old Town at Hotel Albuquerque with our unique blend of Native American, Mexican, Spanish and Western cultural traditions. You see this throughout the hotel and are able to experience our history and heritage.
As we sit above sea level, the high altitude does take some getting used to but nothing that a trip to the top of the Sandia Mountains couldn't cure. Hopefully you had a great view of them from your room as they are also very majestic. We're glad you enjoyed your stay, thanks again for your review.

This is an excellent choice if you want a higher end hotel with amenities. The service is excellent, the room face the mountains and have a spectacular view. Comfortable and clean. Pool is fabulous. Convenient to tourist attractions and the highway. I recommend this hotel for friends and colleagues who come to Albuquerque.

Room Tip: Ask for a mountain view on an upper floor. And the suites are fabulous.

Thank you for recommending our hotel to your friends and colleagues. We are located in Old Town near many shops and restaurants but also in a location of the city where you can step out on your balcony and get a breathtaking view of the Sandia Mountains. The higher the floor the better the veiw gets. We appreciate the great comments and hope that not only you will return but your friends and colleagues will have an opportunity to visit us as well.
